hmm these rumours are doing the rounds. I got a call off my mate who heard from his work mate (yeah I know I know! ) that we are to expect a decision sometime this week and to put the Champers on ice!

I'm of course not getting over excited at this rumour.....yet!

It's name should be associated with the sea in some way, don't you think?

'Seafont Ground' 'Seaside Stadium' - something like that.

But we're a sea-side club, and it's the club that's more important, who cares where the stadium is located?:lolol:

Stating the bleedin' obvious, I know ...

The Government doesn't announce any formal decisions at a Party Political Conference.

The decision will be in writing and will be in the form of a letter to DMH Stallard, the Albion's Planning Agents, signed by a civil servant, which will start with a sentence along the lines of "I am directed by the First Secretary of State .... "

Boo, my illusions are shattered.

I was really hoping for a major outdoor event, with thousands of specially invited guests, fireworks, bunting, flag waving, and then John Prescott arriving on a throne atop a glittering float.

I imagined he would then be carried up on to the stage by a posse of burly helpers, himself wearing a small sequinned toga, designed for the occasion by Alexander McQueen.

After a few minutes of working the crowd, Davina McCall style, to build up the tension into a frenzy, I was hoping for the decision to be announced by virtue of EITHER a large screen like they have for third umpire decisions at the Test Matches, with Yay or Nay in large letters, or by JP doing the old thumbs up-thumbs down routine that the Emperor did in Gladiator.

Politicians are just no fun

How about The 'Do we have to be sponsored in order to get a decent sized ground' Stadium?

I really would hate it to be called 'The Falmer Stadium' or have any connection to the place as I wouldn't mind betting that the NIMBY wankers who've cost out a fortune would probably wind up taking credit for it's construction.

Sussex Stadium or Brighton Arena would be better. However the smart money is getting somebody to sponser it. The AMEX Stadium I could live with.
