I'm taking the family away for a few days after Christmas, staying in Frome, just a short car drive from Yeovil. So we will all be there.

We went via a day in Bournemouth last time, so you're right, we were heading totally the wrong way. Sounds like the A303 is the way to go this time though. Also sounds like it might have more than one lane!

Yes, it has!!

We left at 3.30 from Southampton last time for a 7.45 kick-off, thinking we would hit traffic.

We walked into the pub at just after 5

Happy days

Sorry to be so lazy here, but what time would you/anyone suggest leaving Brighton? I looked online, and it told me it would take 3.5 hours, which I just cannot believe. SURELY it's a shorter journey than that?

Depends what way its sending you.

Im going to Lyme regis on Boxing day and that said 3hrs and its pretty much due south from Yeovil.

That doesn't seem right at all, we drove reasonably near to Yeovil on the way to Torquay, and I think it was only about halfway through our 4hr drive...

Last time I went there in my old Sherpa Campervan , top speed 60mph, and it took me 2 hours after I dropped one of my grandsons off in Guildford. Most of the A303 is dual carriageway, there is some single but mostly dual.

If going via A303 turn off at overnight stopping /picnic area just north of Yeovil and turn left towards the town and it is signposted on the roundabouts.

I'd allow 3 at the most, it's well signposted.

I just hope I don't get ATTACKED by a giant man-eating MOTH like last time.

I remember that Hiney....what the f**k was that thing? I saw it again on my way out and I managed to get a snapshot of it:
