I really think the club ought to say based on 3 seasons now, at championship level, this is how many games are likely to be subject to change (times or day) because of all the factors like trains not available, TV, university open days, Watford can't make it, gay parades

I do have sympathy with anyone who now can't make. But firstly, if it's so predictable how many will be moved, then why do you need the club to tell you? Secondly, we've never had any home games moved from a Saturday to midweek due to trains not being available, "gay parades" or Watford not being able to make it (3 of your 5 examples).

This season we've had two (2) home matches moved from a Saturday and I think last season was the same.

Worth pointing out it's not just me affected. Though of course some people (trolls) just want to see this an opportunity to lambast fellow fans for not having the same flexibility or lack of other things in their lives compared to themselves. As already witnessed on this thread.

The club doesn't know ho many matches are going to change until the fixtures are released. They can only send so many requests for specific fixtures, so they can't ask for Away games on every University function day, though those are usually known pre-season and fixture changes made early. There is no set number of matches to be televised each season, it comes down to how the season pans out, how well teams are doing, how poor their form is. We don't know what that is pre-season. It's completely unreasonable to expect the club to be able to do this. The most they can do is say 'fixtures subject to change', which they do.

This isn't about the club being above criticism. It's about what amount of criticism and what specific criticism is deserved or fair. They've given you a month's notice, they told you as soon as Sky confirmed it, there's not much more they can do.

It isn't about criticising fans for not having flexibility or having other things in their lives, it's the sense of entitlement to watch games without any inconvenience to them some fans are showing, ignoring that there are fans who regularly suffer such inconvenience with saturday kick offs, or the inconvenience keeping it on a saturday would cause the club.

I don't know whether you go to away games and how you get there if you do, but this scenario has been commented on before.
Try thinking of our home games as away games for us exiles then you may have an inkling of understanding of the planning required.

There is a difference between "it's such sort notice" and "I can't get the best deals on train tickets this far out". It's not short notice (there's so much time between now and then that we can fit in 6 league games). I'm sorry you can't get the best price on train tickets.

But, again, the issue for me isn't people complaining about inconvenience (they have my sympathies - for what little that is worth, I'm sure). It's about some people thinking their inconvenience is more important than the club (and the tens of thousands of fans who can make it, and the probably tens of thousands who can't and would love to be able to watch it on TV), with some people thinking they shouldn't even try to arrange alternate travel plans before criticising the club for something that is largely out of their control, while claiming to be such loyal/important fans that the club should be bending over backwards for them. That the club should sacrifice significant income, go against contractual obligations so a (comparatively) small number of fans can make the game without inconvenience or spending more on travel. If that makes me smug, so be it.

I'm probably no longer cut out to be a seagull in exile with a ST. Like an army with over extended supply lines, the slightest ripple breaks the chain. It wouldn't if I lived in Sussex I suppose. But I've had to miss games because of traffic accidents, bad weather, last minute work pressures etc and all this before we move games about for a plethora of reasons including TV. So when this sort of thing happens it really screws my arrangements up and is the proverbial straw that breaks the camels back I guess.

Just whoring ourselves around for a bit of extra cash and screw the fans.

This is precisely what's happened to me: clashes with a concert in London and I wish I'd selected Saturday now! Must remember to block out 4 days for each weekend in future just in case!

I guess like many Albion fans that live a long distance away you probably plan to come to home games very early. With the expensive incurred you have to book travel well in advance.
I would imagine you earmarked this game because it was the last home game of the season, perhaps because you could stay awhile to clap the players on their final lap etc.
Looking through this thread a lot of disappointed fans, some just up the road, many who travel a distance.
As i stated, i can make the game, although i was looking forward to getting to the Amex a few hours before the game (as usual) having a few pre match beers etc.
A real pity, and if it had not been the final home game changed, but a previous one, it would have felt a lot better.

This post seems to have gone unnoticed but it makes me sad. I hope you can contact the club and make a fuss about this. A ten year old boy should not miss out on a once in a lifetime experience just because of Sky.

It does seem complete nonsense to switch the last home game of the season to a Friday night for all the reasons others have said, but also I think there is a fairly standard expectation that this is kind of game that wouldn't be moved, and therefore people booking hotels early etc would have every expectation that this game wouldn't move. I certainly can't recall this happening before. Sad day.

In other news it now means I can go to a wedding on the Satuday afternoon, which keeps other people happy, but me very bored!

4 weeks notice may seem like a long time for some, and if that's how it is then so be it. However I don't want to pay £72 rail fare to get to every home game, so I have to take a chance and book advance tickets otherwise it's simply not affordable on top of all the other costs incurred for the day. Moving back to Sussex isn't currently an option for me.

I wonder if Sky publish a timetable of when they decide which matches are to be televised, so those of us that need to make arrangements can do so without the worry of the game moving? I'm pretty sure the Watford(?) game was moved to a Friday at event shorter notice before, and I also wasted money on the QPR away fixture too.
