I think that is totally unfair. Yes he did spill a weak shot but the defensive hoof should have been row Z not into midfield.

The ball then dropped between Hinsh & Butts rather than being dealt with. So how is that then Yelldell's fault??

Generally he looked nervous and not a solution to our problems but to blame him for the 3rd goal is plain fcuking stupid!

I think it is fair - Yelldell wasn't solely to blame, but he was nonetheless at fault if he spilt the ball badly, and that led to the goal. I don't actually recall the incident, my memory doesn't seem to be what it is.

Good to hear McPhee is getting nearer first team football. An extra striker option is something we have struggled with all season.

Options are good, but only if the player is

McPhee will NEVER amount to a Championship/League 1 player (unfortunately for him, and us)

Errr you're both wrong....
Yelldell had enough time to get up and smother the ball after his weak fumble and Mayo hesiatated for a split second while he eye balled Yelldell to see if he was going to, THEN he panicked and bodged his clearance.

Which goes back to the point made earlier that we need to hear some VOICES in defense

That's difficult for him to do considering he's been injured for nearly the entire season.

McPhee's shown when he's played that he's a more than useful squad player, and adds a lot when he comes on off the bench, as he did at Gillingham when he set up the penalty for Knight to score from.

I have o say that at Cardiff, were he was generall undistinguished (tho he wasn't the only one) I get the impression that his confidence took a big dent after the Derby game.

Yes he made a mess of their second but I don't think anyone was holdoing him resp for the other two. Yes his handing was a bit iffy but their third was a general defensive cock up - Mayo should ahve hoofed the ball into touch and Butters should not have got caught out of position by Tudgay.

I have only seen 2 of Yelldell's games so far but he has not convinced me in what I have seen that May could not have done worse.

I think as soon as we knew Kuipers was going to be out we should have signed that Shabaan (or whatever his name is) until the end of the season only. Then train him up to match fitness but whilst doing that put May in for a couple of games to give him experience and then put Shabaan in when fit.

Just my thoughts.

I think it doesn't look good for Yelldell and the points about his hestitancy and lack of confidence in the Derby and Cardiff games are well made. But it is harsh to blame him the third Derby goal, as there was no real panic from his fumble as the ball went out to Jonah, who had plenty of time to clear the ball into their half and he did so. What was unfortunate was that the very long speculative ball back into our box by Derby was miskicked by Hinsh when he had a clear chance to intercept, and when Hinsh then fell over, Tudgay had a free shot. The fault was the defender's as McGhee made clear in his tactics board tour-de-force on Meridian Soccer Night!

But who knows what Ben Roberts' unfortunate news might mean for Yelldell now. Another chance ???
