Yes, it's that time of year again for the biggest night on the WWE calendar, and on paper this could be a classic one.

If you're not a WWE fan or have opened the thread solely to make on oh so original joke about it all being fake, may I politely suggest you bugger off and read a thread which caters better for your tastes? Cheers.

OK, so for those who are actually interested, will you be watching live or recording it? Personally, I was planning simply to record it, but a combination of a convenient day off and the presence of The Rock, Austin et al has made me reconsider. For those in need of a summary, the matches are as follows:

- Edge vs. Alberto Del Rio (World Heavyweight Championship)

- John Cena vs. The Miz (WWE Championship)

- Triple H vs. The Undertaker (No Holds Barred Match)

- Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler (Stone Cold Steve Austin as the Special Referee)

- Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes

- Randy Orton vs. CM Punk

- Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan (United States Championship)

- John Morrison, Trish Stratus & Snooki vs. Dolph Ziggler, Layla & Michelle McCool

- Big Show, Kane, Vladimir Kozlov & Santino Marella vs. Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater & Ezekiel Jackson

For what it's worth, I reckon wins for Del Rio, The Miz, Lawler, Rhodes, Orton, Big Show et al, Ziggler et al and Bryan, and I reckon this could be the night the streak ends as well.

All that, plus the involvement of Austin and The Rock (and surely at least some kind of minor confrontation between them after all these years) should make for a good show.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
Haven't seen this for a good few years now. A shame really. Always hilarious. I remember watching one about 18 years ago, staying up late to do it whilst writing a 2,000 word Sociology essay for my A-levels (the two subjects sadly unrelated).

Sky Box Office.

I was umming and ahhing about buying this one. Wrestlemania is the one show I tend to buy regardless of the line up, but it was looking decidedly uninspired, and I was starting to have doubts, then they announced the rock was back for it and I was sold right there. I usually don't use up my holiday days and then come the new year I have to use it all up before the end of march or lose it, so I decided I could probably spare one day and have decided to stay up for it and will have tomorrow off work.

And since the rock is back there has been an improvement in the build for most of the matches so I am actually looking forward to more than just the rock.

I don't know how it is going to work tonight but two weeks ago WWE issued a company edict that they are no longer to refer to wrestling.

It's been coming a while. Back when it changed from wwf to wwe, there was a joke going around that people were surprised they didn't change the second W. But they have finally decided to push forward with a branding change that sees people in the company forbidden from using the term wrestling/wrestler/ and so on. They are an entertainment brand. They don't put on wrestling shws, they put on entertainment shows. How that works with Wrestlemania is anybody's guess.

I know a week or so back they sent a letter to a website/magazine requesting they change their headline referring to the WWE hall of fame as a wrestling hall of fame, but now it's come out that it is an internal company policy too.

Well up for this! Still have the Rock's return on my Sky + box as it was that good, build up to Taker-HHH hasn't been great, but hopefully should still be great. Of course very much looking forward to seeing Michael Cole get his arse handed to him, and after the "faggot" twitter controversey its likely a return of JR and King at the announce table could happen!!

Here's how I see it going down, winners in bold:

- Edge (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio (World Heavyweight Championship)-Possible inteference from Christian??

- John Cena vs. The Miz (c) (WWE Championship)-Logic says Cena, however with the rumours going around, and what happened on RAW, a Rock inteference on Miz's behalf is what could go down, setting up Cena-Rock at some point

- Triple H vs. The Undertaker (No Holds Barred Match)-streak will continue till 20-0

- Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler (Stone Cold Steve Austin as the Special Referee)

- Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes

- Randy Orton vs. CM Punk-Logic would say Orton because it would be completing the takeout of Nexus, which I think they handled totally wrong, it would be wrong of me not to back my favourite wrestler!

- Sheamus (c) vs. Daniel Bryan (United States Championship)

- John Morrison, Trish Stratus & Snooki vs. Dolph Ziggler, Layla & Michelle McCool-Celebrities at 'Mania never get beat or made look weak eg Floyd Mayweather beating Big Show, Mickey Rourke punching Y2J etc

- Big Show, Kane, Vladimir Kozlov & Santino Marella vs. Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater & Ezekiel Jackson-An Intercontinental Champ Ladder match featuring Barrett and others not featured on the card to make up for the lack of MITB would have been better, but the Cor(r)e look crap compared to when they were the Original Nexus, so a win in this is needed really.

Overall looking like a better card than last year IMO, mainly thanks to The Greta One's return!

I will be staying up with the Missus, can't bloody wait. Haven't missed a Wrestlemania since I was 4. But I haven't watch any WWE for years apart from the Wrestlemania. Because I'm now a TNA fan and have been for nearly 7 years. The place to be is TNA. Because of the in-ring wrestling and no soap opera style Promos etc. Plus TNA aint PG like WWE. So the HHH VS Undertaker match won't have any kind of blood in it, saying that though Undertaker will keep his winning streak going. Oh don't be surprised if we see something from TNA tonight, because the rumour is Hogan and Bischoff have a plan to get publicity for TNA at WWE biggest show of the year.

on paper, it looks total and utter f***ing wank. the ONLY good thing is the rock is back and the build up to cole v lawler has been superb, but that has got this years mcmahon v hart written all over it

i really, really hope alberto del rio wins the title with christians help. miz needs to keep the belt as he has been very refreshing in his role as champ and much better than another cena borefest. triple h seems to have conveniently forgotten that the undertaker beat him at wrestlemania ten years ago, and if it is him that ends the streak i am going to be severely f***ed off

I must admit I don't understand how it all mixes together with raw and whatnot and I do think that it's scripted BUT I appreciate the athleticism of it and how well choreographed it is... 1 mistake and someone's back is broken.

Hate all the theatrics though, but I guess it is sports entertainment.

Cool, thanks for the heads up, I didn't know Wrestlemania was this weekend. I only catch the odd Raw/Smackdown on Youtube and haven't seen any this year, so won't know what any of the feuds are, but the recaps before each bout on WM are a good way of catching up. If anyone finds a decent stream of it online and can post the link here later that would be brilliant. Not being a cheapskate, I'd buy it if I could, but I don't own a television (let alone Sky) and you can't buy the official stream in the UK (because of Sky's licensing deal with WWE) grrr.

Massively looking forward to this event..

I was a massive fan in the '80s, but didn't really watch from the early '90s until about 6 months ago and now I'm more into this than ever...

RAW, Smackdown & Superstars are my most looked forward to shows each week now!
