Wrong licence plates

I have just discovered that I have the wrong licence plates on my car. Been like that since new 18 months ago. Tax disk is correct, but the dealer got one letter wrong when ordering the plates. The registration on my plates belongs to a Vespa!!!

Have now ordered the correct plates, but presumably until I put them on I have an opportunity to speed through cameras and drive in bus lanes.

Should be fun!

The Vespa rider will be truly pissed off when he gets my tickets.

It's taken you 18 months to find this out?

Park wherever you like.

Mind you, if you're Chris Eubanks you're presumably doing that already anyway.

You're not going to get NICKED, are you, realistically speaking...
You know what I mean officer, surely if he's deliberately using the false plates to his gain, then I would hope he does get NICKED.
If you're saying that most coppers would turn a blind eye, then I'm off to get some false plates made !

I'm not saying they wouldn't deal with it, only that you'd never get nicked. Unless you refused to say who you were, then they couldn't deal with you any other way (ie a fixed penalty notice or report for summons).

I trust you haven't had to pay for the new ones yourself, Goldstone?

In some parts of Eastbourne they would have nicked the car and left the licence plates behind.

Company car, so no. I guess I should have gone back to the dealer who sold the company the car as it was their error.

And in answer to another poster, I have been driving the car for just over a year and had not noticed the wrong plates. Why would I? The Accountant at the company organises the tax disk (which has the correct number); he never sees the car; it would never have occured to me to check that tax disk and number plate match.

Fair enough, but you didn't say it was a company car.
It reads as though it's your own private car.
