I had read that the plan is that, a la Cena vs. Rock, the main event for next year will be announced on Raw on Monday. That plan suggested said match could be Lesnar vs. Austin.

As has been said though, everything is subject to change, and rumours are ten a penny this time of year

i cant see that happening tbh, i reckon it will be CM Punk vs Stone Cold Steve Austin

CM Punk can go back heel and go on about Austin's drinking!!

heard rumours that Cena will eventually turn to be a bad guy....but untill they get a baby - faced headliner, they wont do that, also Rock v Lesner next year at wrestlemania......but if it does, be shit...2 part timers headlining the best even...no chance IMO

I cant believe that people pay to see Wrestling live or on TV, its so predictable and they now spend more time insulting each other than wrestling, its only a matter of time before El Abd joins their ranks.

Really looking forward to seeing how the big 2 contests pan out
But there is no contest. And why is it on Sky Sports?

It's a sad indictment on society that people watch it at all.

Austin and punk keep teasing something between them at wrestlemania 29 on their twitter feeds.

If Rock does face Lesnar next year it probably won't be the main event, but will be a big selling point (like bobby lashley v umaga fighting in a vince mcmahon's hair v donald trump's hair/akebono v big show/floyd mayweather v big show kinda thing. Wrestlemania is a spectacular, not a big wrestling ppv, so some of the normal wrestling ppv booking rules go out the window.

They've been talking about fighting each other for the past two years or so on twitter so IMO it will happen at some point. Won't be the match for WM29 that's announced on RAW this Monday (if they are going to do one as has been rumored), but wouldn't be surprised to see Austin return near next years Rumble and set up a match.

I still find it extraordinary the bookies are taking bets on this when it is made up and scripted! Its truly extraordinary

I thought the same thing. Ripe for a sting. Three Cricketers went down for rigging a cricket match. Its obviously okay for the bookies to take bets on a wrestling 'contest' that they know is rigged by the participants beforehand?

But there is no contest. And why is it on Sky Sports?.

It isn't, its on Sky Box Office.

As for all the condescending bollocks spouted on here about those who watch/enjoy it - why bother opening the thread just to slag people off?

Punk is not a big enough name yet to fight Austin and how fit is Austin to have a match ?

General consensus seems to be that, in the right circumstances, Austin probably could manage one match.

whilst i quite like a bit of wrestling, the betting issue is quite valid.......

there must be a reasonable amount of people within the company who know what the outcome of a match is going to be....what's to stop one of them going LARGE at the bookies?

Possibly a company policy on no betting on match outcomes? Also it would seem to be only UK bookmakers (from what I've read) who are taking bets anyway.
