very clear that they are both past their use-by date. webster can still offer something at perhaps a lower pl level, or even abroad, and lallana needs to move into coaching. they should both be replaced in the summer.

Webster although the scapegoat now, unfortunately isn’t good enough as we have moved on and developed as a team. Injuries haven’t helped him and I’ll wish him well when he moves on in the summer, but he shouldn’t be starting games now. Will probably return to Portsmouth if they go up and have a good few years as he winds down his career.

Lallana - we all know he’s retiring at the end of the season. He’s one of the most supportive and engaging players when on the pitch, but he simply hasn’t got the pace to play that far forward now. Good to have around with the younger players, or good to bring on with 10/15 mins left to play, but shouldn’t be starting

Amazing how our so called attacking players get off scott free with another game without a goal.

It was an “I’m prioritising Thursday” team for me. Genius if it works but highly unlikely to. Webster won’t be playing in Rome and will be gone in the summer.

Why is everyone slagging Webster? Easy scapegoat.
Personally thought Pervis was much worse today and generally at fault for both goals.
Exactly. And crumbled for the goal on Wednesday as well. He’s in a terrible run of form

I wouldn’t say that. I’ve seen lots of criticism of Fati and Ferguson was obviously awful but maybe people don’t want to hate on a kid again?

Pretty obvious that of the whole squad Mitoma and Pedro are the two we couldn’t afford to lose - especially at the same time.

Webster isn’t good enough full stop. Pervis is (or was) but has been horrible for six games in a row, but can be genius. At what point do you bin him off?

(I agree with your main point though)

Edit - I think the formation doesn’t suit Pervis. Back to a four at the back please RDZ.

Objectively the Pervis conundrum is quite interesting. He’s definitely a player , and scored amazing goals in recent weeks but the confidence and assured touch is missing. I think ‘tip of the spear’ football can be like this , it’s all metrics of perfection and 98% is ruthlessly punished .

Exactly. He's been poor for a while and Webster saved us a few times in the 2nd half.

Why he wasn't hooked for Barco at HT is a mystery.

Formation, team choice, and tactics were all poor and we all looked at the team news and said "Thursday..."

Obviously and rightly prioritising Roma. It’s just a shame that our style hasn’t adapted to suit the reality of our circumstances. With a fully fit and firing Pedro, Mitoma, Adingra, March, Enciso, Welbeck plus Fergie on form we could still be confident of scoring 3 or 4 goals a game. Without that, using the same gung-ho approach which means we always concede 1 or 2 seems reckless & we’ll lose more than we win.

Any fans who thought Fulham would be an easy game hasn’t been paying attention to their home results. I think a draw would have been fine right now and there’d have been no shame in making a clean sheet the top target. Same on Thursday too.
