I'm actually astonished at the amount of media coverage womens football gets these days, considering the number of people who actually turn up to go and watch it.
The Womens Premier League is "celebrating" a 48% increase in average crowds this season - from 728 up to 1,076 (presumably partly off the back of last years World Cup). I expect a large chink of those attending are made up of friends and families of the players. And yet despite 3 men and a dog turning up to the games, womens football gets its own section on the BBC website, and is quite often featured on the national news.
I don't begrudge women playing football, if they enjoy it then let them get on with it. I dunno how the heck it ever makes it onto our TV screens though.

Fair enough but as the topic wasn't about men's football nor non league it was akin to "I'd rather go to Lingfield races and stop off at Maloncho for a Chicken Tikka on the way home"

I see the usual misogynists are alive and well on this thread - perhaps, on reflection, "well" is a an overstatement.
The club loses money on women's football, but that's not the point. If the club is going to mean something to the wider community then it quite rightly should invest in that team. I met some of the women's team and management last month. Very impressive set up and a very professional attitude. I can see why they have done so well this season.
I know they were amazed when they thumped Oxford 10-1, especially as Oxford are a league above them.
If they went to the final, I'd go.
Ideally I'd like to see two Albion senior teams celebrating promotion this year. At the moment, we've got one in the bag.

Misogynists my a***! It is entirely possible to like and admire women without either liking or admiring women's football.
The standard of women's football is a hell of a lot better than it used to be, but it's still generally pretty awful to watch.
For that reason I really struggle to have any interest in it, although I want Brighton and England to do well as I would in any sport.
Until the football is actually good to watch, attendances will continue to be poor and that's what will decide the progression of the sport (money). So it's good that with all the wads of cash sloshing about in football, clubs are willing to throw a few crumbs at their women's teams and encourage girls to play more as this is the only way the standard will improve and the matches become more popular for spectators (and the only way the teams can become self sufficient).
Unfortunately at the moment I find it about as interesting as rugby and I certainly wouldn't pay to watch that.
Oh and BG your comment about equal wages is nonsense of the standard one would expect from someone who gets their opinions from "the papers". Complete bollocks.

The quality of the football isn't actually that bad, it's just slower. Watching national teams, particularly the US and Germany, can be pretty interesting. I think it's great the club are so supportive of women's football, it's what #together is all about.

I watched a bit of a women's world cup as it drew me in a little. But if we are being honest the standard of the WORLD CUP FINAL was lower than a league two match. You can hype it up as much as you like but that is the reality. It just isn't a sport where women can play women and look good. Tennis I can watch, athletics I can watch, but beyond women in sport is generally of poorer quality.
And I don't think it is sexist to say that. Men and women are different, physically and mentally, women are far better than men at certain things, men are far better than women at certain things, sport just happens to be in the mens camp.

Why does such a low level of football talent/skill/lacking of quality get so much air time. Its rubbish.
I wouldn't pay to watch two pub teams in International shirts so why would anyone watch this dross just cause its wimmin.?
If it were men playing at this level I'd say the same.
