No. We can do better than that.

Do you think Tony Bloom or RDZ would take 7th place?

'There is no ceiling' - Tony Bloom.
I think they'd both snap your hand off for 7th at this point.

In the context of this season there clearly is a ceiling and we're probably at it now. That's based on tonight's league table, we're 6 points behind Utd in 6th place and 9 behind Spurs in 5th. Highly, highly unlikely that we'll overtake them.

I've had to change to yes. Manure spawning undeserved points and spurs not being spursy leads me to believe the chance of conference league next season will be a very welcome bonus....as long as we don't cock it up!

This is a really good article re Europe. We’re still likely to get the 5 champs league places. If the cups are both won by teams inside the top 7 (ie we need Chelsea NOT to win the league cup), the Europe places will go down to 8th…! A little Europa Conference run would actually be alright I think…

So it might not then? Why would we settle for a 'could be enough' scenario?

Where is your ambition? Have faith in our quality.
OK, I’ll put it a different way - it’s highly likely to be ! Obviously I’d love to finish higher but in reality the 6 teams above us will need to go on a bad run of form for us to overtake them

Way out West
The challenge this season is that the teams around us (Newcastle, Chelsea, Wolves) are a lot more likely to finish above us that the likes of Brentford and Fulham (last season's contenders). I'd be very hsappy with 7th.

PS: I've discounted West Ham!

Given our inconsistency, yes I'd take 7th...I'll be over the moon if we get to 5th of course, but we have a brain fart every now and then, which we need to resolve, and the fannying about at the back, and passing the ball WAY back to the keeper when we are virtually in their box again we need to resolve (why can't we rebuild the play from half way or in their third.....but either position is stonking...

I'll take your word for it that 7th spot is highly likely to give us another European adventure. No-one is saying we will overtake all 6 teams above us.

Looking at the table, it's most likely we have reached our highest spot this season. However, all the top 10, apart from Citeh, have only played 25 games, with 13 to go and a possible 39 points still to play for.

Our fixtures include Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa, Newcastle and Man Utd. You can look upon those as daunting, or you can look on them as the chance to take 21 points off our rivals. RDZ will be aiming for the latter. None of them will relish playing us.

Meanwhile, Bloom is aiming for a top 5 spot. Why not?
