Would you pay more tax if it meant protecting public services?

Would you do a Charlotte Church?

Hove (actually)
I would but 50% or 70% is ludicrous - surely Church's perspective is from someone with a large income, if you hit average earners with a 50% tax the amount being spent in shops and on services etc would fall through the floor- or some of the tax would have to be spent immediately on debt advisory services.

Already 62% marginal rate at £100k (inc NI). Crazily imbalanced when it's 47% at £1m plus....

The most curious thing..
If it keeps me in a job, then yes.

Although the whole austerity agenda is complete bollocks and unnecessary.

Yes, but I don't think pumping more money at the NHS is the answer. There's an awful lot of money wasted.

Agree with this. I'd focus on improving social and community care, reducing the burden on the NHS. At the moment hospitals are providing both health care and social care because the level of community provision is so poor.

...if a few quid more tax did a public service of sending Messrs. Clarkson, Hammond and the other bloke on a one way ticket to Venus then I'm in.
