Thought i posted but apparently not, he has to withdraw his comments and publicly commit to the team till the end of the season or he can f*** off as far as im concerned.

Edit: And apologise to poyet.

Meopham, Kent.
Only consider him if he backs down and acts as the manager wants him to act.

All power to Poyet, he cannot feel he must give ground to Forster because of results on the pitch. That has to be irrelevant. Forster must tow the line or continue to sit out.

I'm with Poyet on this. He can't give in to player demands on this occasion. If he does, every player will think they can throw a strop and get what they want. This is Poyet's first big test and he needs to stand firm.

If Forster retracts his comments, I would stick him on the bench, or start him if he is looking sharp in training.

This applies to any player and any manager of any team: pick him, or anyone else just behaved like a strutting, self-regarding prima donna DICKHEAD who's acted like him, without some kind of apology or explanation and just watch that managerial authority vanish into the cold Withdean air. Gus - thank GOD - is made of sterner stuff than to take any shit of some evidently up-himself 3rd division footballer.

I am not saying dish him out a huge new contract - which WOULD be backing down.

Just play our top scorer.

If Forster does want a move, he needs to be scoring goals. We need someone finding the net. What is the problem?

Just play him and the situation will resolve itself.

Until he says sorry to Poyet and accepts contracts are not discussed till end of the season he can carry on watching from the stand. Can't have one player dictating things

If we were comfortably mid table then keep him out until he apologises. As we are scrapping for our league one lives, then I'm not sure we can afford to take the moral high ground and he probably should play. This does however depend on the other players attitude towards him, as if they no longer wish to work with him then it'll be pointless playing him.

The problem is one of managerial authority and discipline, by letting Forster back without resolving the issue you are going to open up a huge can of worms with the other players if they start throwing their toys out of the pram when Poyet does something they disagree with.

The basic rule in any managerial post is all people are treated equally when rules are broken, you start letting people off you will lose both respect and discipline from others who feel you show favouritism.

Much as I'd like him back until Forster backs down and sorts this out then in my opinion he stays out in the cold irrespective of how much we need him.

I understand, but surely backing down would be to open contract negotiations. I am not suggesting we do that.

If we are still paying him - he should be in the squad. He is on a fair whack. We need goals.

If it is such a disciplinary problem that he cannot be selected, Poyet should be fining him wages.

He went to the media bypassing the acknowledged lines of communication within the club. If I did the same thing in my line of work I would also be suspended until the issue was dealt with probably not in my favour.

But if we play him and he decides he is not going to give his all for a manager that he feels doesnt value him then what?

We have to pay him, he is not in breach of his contract, but we dont have to play him and until his attitude changes Gus is 100% right to leave him out imho.

The olive branch is there Forster just has to take it, but until he does i would rather we play ANY of the other strikers ahead of him.

In fairness I would suggest football is not quite the same as other industries as far as dealing with the press is concerned.

But, that said, if Poyet is so miffed he won't play him, he shouldn't be paying him.
