I keep seeing people point to the table and say "we would have taken this start", but would you?

If offered, would you have taken us being 5th in the table after ten games, knowing that the tenth game was a capitulation against Palace, allowing them to be the first team to beat us at the Amex in the league and deny us the chance to be top instead?

Yes ... at the end of day the most important thing is about league position, sod the Palace game at the end of the season it's just 1 of 46.

Only piss off factor for me is that we could have been top now ... but nobody gets promoted October 1st so can get over that easily too

I'll take 5th any day of week. Whats more at the end of the season I can also accept if there is no promotion. I would prefer to get a couple of years in the championship, build up experience and a fantastic team and then play in the top flight. There would be nothing worse than going up and then only lasting a season or two.
Bugger the palace game, it's happened, bitter pill to swallow, just means we're going to have to hit them massivley on the return leg.

If you ask any Palace fan whether they would rather lose to us twice and finish ahead of us they would say YES. If they say no, they are lying! That is the whole point of the league isnt it, to finish as high as possible to prove how good you are over a whole season and not just a few games.

So in answer to your question, Im well happy with the start!

Very happy with current position. Alarmed with the total capitulation against Palace.

Indeed (x2). We cerainly need to put in a performance today, otherwise the alarm bells will be jangling ever louder innit.

I, of course, meant ninth game, not tenth.

Yes, but looking forward:

1. Plans B and C required for teams that close us down quickly in order to maintain progression for the rest of the season
2. Gotta play for 95 minutes every game from now on

we have to stop all the negative bullshit, support Gus & the team...
We have an awesome chairman, ground & mgr!!

I have the same opinion as when the season started...

Of course. Last couple of weeks a reality check against some very good sides and if we carry on conceding 3 goals per game we won't be 5th for long. We're not a genuine play off side, at the moment.

The vast majority of the fans would have been happy with a mid-table finish but after Gus's recent comments about how he thinks we could be up there, the bar has been considerably raised and so have expectations. Perhaps he was a little niaive there? But it's clear he and Bloom want us in the Premiership sooner rather than later. Make no mistake, that's the plan. So far Gus has been fair to the players who got us promoted but I suspect not for much longer.

I'd still be happy with mid-table and despite a disappointing set of results, it's never been a better time to be a Brighton Fan.
