I'd feel a bit awkward when I go on my own. I only do that if there is a movie that I really, really want to see and nobody wants to come and see it. But at that stage you lose your inhibitions because you're so keen to see the film. That hasn't happened to me very often, because most movies are shite and not worth the admission price.

I believe that the main reason I go to the cinema on my own so often is because I go to the cinema on my own

I usually go with people. No one wants to see Kill Bill though so I might have to see it myself. :glare:

Me and the Mrs travelled to the cinema together, but then saw different films. I saw Jackass, whilst she watched something girly. Does that count?

I've been to the cinema on my own loads of times. You just need a bit of self-confidence.

Sometimes it's just too much hassle to arrange to go with someone else and you spend the whole time worrying if they like the film. I used to come out of work in London and think - "ooh i really fancy a film" and just wander down to Leicester Square to see what's on. Most cinemas in London are full of freelancers and other people on their own during the day /early evening.

Pre-NSC I used to go to matches on my own too.

I've been on my own loads. I used to be a tour guide, and stuck in cities far from home with nothing to do for a day, and so I'd go and see a film. It's a good way of spending a few hours if you've nothing to do and nowhere to go.

I've done it a few times in Britain, too. No one cares who you're with when the films on. You shouldn't worry about it.

If I was on a day off and there was a film on that the missus didn't want to see, but I did then I would certainly pop down to the UGC at the Crumbles and probably top it off with lunch and Stellas at Frankiie and Benny's.

i used to go loads of times on my own after work ,when the ABC in east street was on it last legs, all films were £2.50!

cheaper than renting a video on your own!

i think you are quite sad if you cannot go alone.

The cinema is best on your own. No one asking you "now who is that woman again? Is he the man at the start with the stutter and the collapsed lung?".
Some films are obviously experience films and are probably best watched with mates so you can all come out and share in the glee or disbelief. But damnit, i've seen amazing stuff on my own. Used to go to Hitchcock films at the Duke of Yorks when i was an 18 year old on the dole.
Um, yes.

I must admit, I have been on my own once. I bunked off work, but by lunchtime I'd almost chewed my own arm off with boredom, so that afternoon I went to see Ace Ventura 2 - When Nature Calls. It had already been on for a few weeks, and I was the ONLY ONE in the whole cinema. I sat right in the middle, and felt quite awkward cos I was alone and laughing like a drain at it (specially when he crawls out of the rhinos arse). Later on, one of those workers with the little torches came in and sat down near the front, and that made me feel even more self-concious.

Dunno why though.

No wonder you were on your own - that film is shite with a capital shite. I was having a good day until I went to the cinema, than I was chewing my arm off with boredom.
