Would you go on holiday to Tunisia?

I went to morocco a number of years back and it was a great place.
I would not fancy travelling their currently mind. These attacks really damage the tourism not only in Tunisia, but Morocco and Egypt as well and I think they will take a big hit in tourism numbers for a while now. But as we have seen terrorism can hit anywhere at anytime.

Precisely why I refused to go to Sharm earlier this year. Yes it's cheap. Yes it's unlikely. Yes we can all get run over by a bus blah blah. But, it's more likely in a place like Sharm. And not inconceivable. So went to St Lucia instead. Lovely time and would recommend if anyone considering.

I wouldn't go anyway. The Tunisians are deeply mysoginystic and treat women like second class citizens on one hand and on the other love to leer and cop a feel when they can. Backwards bunch of cavemen. Don't know any female that's been there and not despised the place.

Older women and mothers have been the victims of heinous acts led by individuals who clearly have no fear of repercussions.

St Lucian citizens have been led to fear walking through the city at any time of the day lest they be in the right place at the wrong time. Many question and cannot begin to comprehend why nothing is being done by those who should have the power and also what has caused this influx in such acts that can only be regarded acts of terrorism towards the people of such a small island."

You can enshrine rights and CPS all you like. It doesn't seem to stop the men behaving like pigs towards women. Not just my opinion, other posters and people I know have all said the same thing. And no slight on your character dude, but I will take the word of my sister in law and about 20 other women I know that have been there over some bloke I don't know on a forum.

I've not been to Tunisia but have been to many Arab countries and my experience is that women are not particularly highly regarded in Arab culture. Certainly not Western women anyways.

That's crime! Not religious based terrorism! Or even terrorism. Please point me to the endless bombings and targeted murders in St Lucia. And for the record, that was no where near our resort either.

I went there a few years ago with the now ex-Mrs Westdene. We decided to visit a 'traditional' market - quite frankly the traders were a bunch of sexist, racist f**kers. Awful place. I won't ever be returning to the country.

No problem, went travelling across North Africa with my wife and two kids back in the eighties and Tunisia was a really interesting part of the trip which we all thoroughly enjoyed. My wife experienced nothing like what you and others have described, the only 'unwanted' attention we received was aimed at our two boys who both had really blond hair which the locals found fascinating.

I could list plenty of examples of real generosity and kindness we experienced as we travelled around Tunisia but, looking at people's enshrined views on the place, it would seem pretty pointless.
