If I was only earning £500 a month and they offered me £1300 a month then maybe yes !
If I was on £20,000 a month and they offered me £20,800 a month then absolutely no way.

seems daft to. what happens in January? presumably redundancy. if a contractor, get nothing, if a permie, you'll get redundancy payout thats likly more than the £3k you made extra on contract. however, if not there long enough (2 yers to qualifyiirc), then it might make sence to take the £800/m and start looking for inevitable new job.

As a permie, if you have under two years service, there is no legal obligation to pay redundancy. Even after two years the statutory ( which is what a vast majority of employers pay ) is only about £400 for every year you've worked there.

As for the original question - no I wouldn't. I took a gamble in 2003 partly based on the offer of extra money - 18 months later I was out of work for 5 months. While the extra I earned in those 18 months covered what I lost by not working for those 5 months, the stress and the worry wasn't worth it. Moral of the story ? Don't let money be your driving factor in making that sort of decision.
