I'd imagine that the reason it is so cheap is because of the amount of owners it's had.

why does the number of owners immediatly devalue? mileage and condition still more important things

... Whats the service history like?

is the more important question. doesnt matter much if its been serviced by 5 or 11 people as long as its got all the right stamps at the right times. IF it was a runt then surely anything will have been fixed by one of the first few owners? the one thing i can think of is a dodgy fitting/leaking roof - test drive on a rainy day or take it to a car wash before making the deal.

Lots of Z3's get crashed.

Get it on a ramp and look for signs of new welding round the bulkheads, poor panel fit, mismatched paint on panels, signs of overspray.

If in doubt, get the AA to give it the once over.

1.8/9 I believe.

I would guess that's one of the reasons it's had so many owners. Reliable but slower than it looks, there's got to be a few disappointed boy racers.
The price looks about right not over cheap.
If you can't see much wrong with it, evidence of repairs etc. It's had so many owners that if there is anything wrong with it, someone must have found it by now, so it's been sorted because it hasn't killed it yet.
Try and get the seller to fix the exhaust.

Just remember. Jeremy thinks all Bema drivers are cocks.

Well its very cheap and I think the owner number has put people off.

The mileage sounds about right...110k for a 13 year old motor....but its niggling at me!

Its bought from a garage type situation...all a bit weird. I drove there as they have a few cars for sale and it was parked on there driveway...the woman explains they keep the cars at a lock up and run it from home

Okay, my outlook on this is that at 110k miles you ARE going to have expenses of some kind, whatever else happens. In that this motor has such owner history, you are going to always suspect this car and its' issues because of that.
One thing you really ought to do, is get a mechanic to go with you - someone who is independent and has no attachment to the seller. It will cost you money to do that, but you might strike a deal with him for your car-search - and in the long run you may save yourself a lot of money....and most importantly; grief.

So he will keep my deposit then?

Hang about, i'm psychic

..... I have a message coming through - it says 'non refundable deposit' :dunce:

and in answer to the question, if it was a classy car like an e-type, TR6, Stag etc 11 previous owners wouldn't worry me

However, if it was a cock's car, it would worry me regardless of the number of previous owners

Because it has an awful engine.

and they are generally a nasty shade of purple or yellow. Horrid car in every way. Now a TR6......

Raise the extra money and go for the Honda s2000

Get a HPI check for about £30 - soon show up if it's been crashed etc.

Also, just passed MOT and exhaust is blowing...those two don't got together i'm afraid..
