Unless the UEFA Enforced the wage cap across all European leagues. It would be a catastrophe for English football.
All top players would just follow the money and leave England. TV revenue would plummet etc..

Never going to happen. Too many corrupt and over rich self indulged billionaires out there, getting richer off the poor.

If it’s a decent proven forward and we can afford him then yes, if there’s a problem then let us know!

They would rightly argue if there is a problem they cannot say anything publicly as that might alert other clubs to a possible fire sale.

That would not be a catastrophe. Brighton v. Palace would still sell out. United v. Liverpool would still sell out, as would Liverpool - Everton, Arsenal - Spurs, United - City, etc, etc.
If we didn't have players on £millions per year, would any of us love the club we support any less? Sod 'em - let 'em go and play in Albania, India, China, wherever.

Voted no. I just don't think it's acceptable to pay anyone that much. No-one needs £100K a week, nor frankly does anyone 'deserve' it. From a time when in my early years the gap between the richest and the poorest in this country was at its lowest ever to a time now when footballers earn - or should that be 'earn' - more in a week than the Prime Minister does in a year (and I know the present PM is despised on here, but that's irrelevant) I can only see it as the opposite of progress.
Yes, I know many will come back with arguments along the lines of 'going rate' and 'market value', but I don't care. I'm an armchair fan these days, I admit, but will remain a fan all my life. Should we start paying £100K a week though, that connection I feel between me and the club I love would inevitably be diminished.

It has so many other negative affects across society too. Not least envy! This world is going to blow up because of money, frankly a bit of me can’t wait! Viva the revolution!!

As a fan I want to watch the best players at the Albion. If the market rate for our chosen striker is £100k a week then so be it.
I’ll leave it to Tony to assess what’s affordable, or not.
It would be throwing a huge amount of cash away, we could buy two players on £100k a week but this would not transform us into an elite side,we are in a group that at our best will just get us into the top half of the table, accept this and enjoy our best efforts.

If a 100 k a week player brings in the equivalent of £150 k a week in club revenue then he's worth it. I'm thinking of Beckham and Real Madrid as an example in shirt sales. For us if we were to finish say 8th then the guy on 100k a week was clearly worth it. The problem comes when there is no guarantee and we get lumbered with an even more expensive Locadia type. We live in such a distorted world that a footballer earns more in a week thank a doctor who could possibly save a child's life does in a year, which, is very sad but true.

Currently I would say no. We are not an established premier League club yet, we've had 3 seasons of trying to avoid relegation, we need several seasons of mid table and then pushing for Europe before the club should realistically consider those kind of wages.
I'm pretty sure that uncle Tony has got his head screwed on and the people he's got around him know how to run a club successfully, so I doubt we will see those kind of wages paid any time soon.
I may be way off the mark with my opinion though. We may very well sign a mega bucks player tomorrow, but spending big doesn't always mean success.

That doesn't mean jack shit to the top 6. All they want is European football..
And as we found out his week. A certain defender told us NO THANKS BRIGHTON, Keep your higher wage, I want European football.

Do you think the top 6 in the premier league would attract players good enough to compete in Europe with a wage cap on them.
From a business perspective, it Would be a catastrophe, Because they are a business.

Why not? The quality of our players is the fundamental reason we're at this level and generating 150 million pounds or whatever in income. Paying our best player 5 million a year, or 3% of that, doesn't seem that much considering they're much of the reason the money is being made in the first place.

Dunk was on £70k a week last season and had an increase of 25% or slightly more to his last signed contract. You’d be amazed to think what some of our players are on given our history but it’s just the modern state and way things are now.

How do you know this? Surely it's highly confidential information?

So players won't come to Brighton, preferring to take a lower wage so that they can play European football with someone else.

But they wouldn't accept a pay cap to play in Europe with a top 6 club, they'd want to go elsewhere for the money. You seem to have a knack of contradicting your own argument. And as far as being a business is concerned, the top 6 clubs could be quite profitable without the European League money if they weren't paying their players £10M a year!

Not contradicting anything at all. Your just deliberately taking what I said out of context.

So I'll try and spell it out.
One player decided NOT to come to Brighton Now, because he'll probably be too old by the time if ever Brighton to get into Europe.
also a top 6 club in England wouldn't get anywhere in Europe without paying ridiculous wages for top players.

Profitable yes, But we are talking about business who always want more.

If we have to and he keeps us in the Premier League, sure. I’ll trust Tony Bloom not to put the club in financial trouble. If he thinks it’s viable and the going rate, crack on.
