Would traffic wardens be that stupid/annoying?

pay the fine?

seriously. I would expect them to be having a field day. Sensible folk will appeal the ticket after taking photos of lines and signs obscured by snow but some will just pay up.

It's not about lines or signs. It's the fact I literally cannot get the car up my house.

UPDATE: just got through to a chap at the council, said it is his understanding that wardens aren't working at the moment, however if weather/snow improves then please move it when possible.

They will be sat in their offices playing Connect 4 and discussing the more important matters in the world today.

Also, there WILL be a Pool tournament today. A one frame shootout type of deal. And then, about lunch time, if things haven't improved then they will be offered unpaid leave, or some holiday hours. A few will refuse in order to be paid for sitting around doing sod all and others will leave with great urgency.

They don't go out giving tickets on days like this. This isn't the first time we've had snow.
"If you have had to leave your car it's unlikely you'll get a penalty as the road markings are unclear.
The appeal procedure does take into considering mitigating circumstances."

Why can't they just be clear and say you won't get a ticket? :flameboun:annoyed:
Because then people who can drive would park in places with clear markings and abuse the situation. Use common sense - if your car is stuck, there's no way you'll have to pay a fine. Remember the traffic wardens have to take photos of your car, so if it's stuck it'll be obvious.

My car is on the pavement, facing the wrong way after it span off the seafront road. Illegally parked by any standards. It just won't go on the snow/ice. I think I have AA cover through my bank. The car hasn't broken down but would they be able to get my car home?

They will go round with shovels and move snow either side of car and take photo so lines can be seen

When my van broke down on double yellows on Saturday evening, left a clearly visible note saying broken down, came back Monday to meet the removal men and it had 2 tickets, trust me, you could have all 4 wheels missing and the greedy greens will ticket your car

Which is the sensible approach. The only query is - what does 'improve' mean? A bit ambiguous, you may need to keep an eye on that, it depends on how voracious they're feeling.

Just wondering who's going to be the first to make some nonsensical party political statement out of this.

I'd take a picture, complete with skid-marks etc, just in case it looks a bit silly when the snow has gone if it's still there.

Er, I don't know. I doubt it, there'll be too many people with the same problem. You can ask. How far is your car from home? You'd be better getting a group of people to help you push it off the pavement, or getting a shovel and some grit to clear a few meters.

No you're not, you know exactly who it'll be.

If a car is causing an obstruction or parked/abandoned dangerously then it will be removed. Whether or not you will get charged for this is another matter.

Common sense on your part is key. Move your vehicle ASAP or it will be towed and/or ticketed.

One thing that is happening about that in future is that the council is scrapping the Car Pound.

If your car has to be moved, it will be moved to somewhere legal (you'll be told where). You'll still have to pay the fine, but you won't have to pay an extra Car Pound charge any more.

I have just moved my car, as the sun is out and all the roads round Kemp Town/Marina are completely fine now.

Wife had to leave her car in car park in Haywards Heath and according to council today, no tickets will be issued if cars are in a car park or parked up safely.

Yes, Parking Attendants are that stupid so you may well get a ticket. As long as your car was removed in a sensible period of time you should have no problem appealing against the ticket.
