A defence is not one player, my view was based on the current best Vs the best then.

So Bart, Van Hecke, Dunk, Veltman and Estupinan or Ferdi, against the 80s team. It would be a walk in the park for the current team.

The best league finish the team from the early 80s achieved was 13th. We’d probably be disappointed with 13th this season and there is no way that the standard of football in the Premier League now is not miles above the early 80s.
Exactly. Let's be honest - that team from 1980(?) weren't very good even by the, much lower, standards of the day. 13th represented a huge achievement for us then. Now we'd be slightly disappointed.

I know as an old bugger I'm supposed to say how much better things were in 'my day'; perhaps some things were but the standard of the Brighton and Hove Albion football team definitely isn't one of them. It would be like watching the Liverpool team of the 80s playing a non-league side.
