Would the new Wembley have been better

The old stadium was not Cardiff Arms Park, that's still there, right next to the ground.

The old stadium was called the National Stadium.

I've been going to rugby matches at Cardiff since the early 70s and I think it's a great place for a day out. Wembley is a hole in comparison.

For me I would like us to play at Wembly more. I thought everything about Cardiff was perfect except a few minor niggles.

1) The North Stand just doesn't look right.
2) It's a VERY expensive trip requiring an overnight stop ideally.
3) It's in Wales. We play in the English League. I want to support England in England.

Wales have a fine stadium and a brillient city atmosphere to be very proud of. But for me I couldn't help feeling like a guest in someone elses home. I want to stand/sit in a stadium that will show off to the world the great game we gave them.

They seriously need to invest in the area of Wembly to improve the bars and reasturants in the area. My only other niggle is that if we are going to be spending £1billion on a stadium it would have been nice to think it was the biggest in Europe, but it will still fall second the Barcelona! :(

100,000 capacity! Now THAT would have been a ground!

role on Wembly I can't wait!

Cardiff was a great day out and an amazing stadium.

Having said that, I drove past the new Wembley development the other day, and even though it's only a bunch of steel girders surrounded by cranes at the moment, you can tell it's going to be amazing.

Just a shame it's in a crappy part of town I guess, as opposed to a nice bit of Cardiff.

The new Wembley has the stamp of that tosspot Ken Bates all over it. Get 'em in and squeeze 'em dry - the beer might just cost a tad more than £2.50 there - yet another property developer more interested in building hotels and £70 a head restaurants masquerading as a football chairman.

They should have left the old Wembley stadium as a museum piece and concert venue - I have lost count of the amount of non-Brits I've spoken to who can't believe how thoughtlessly they've torn down a stadium that everyone in world football felt such affection for - and build a new one in an area that needs regenerating more than the already-congested south-east of England, ever more badly than Wembley itself.

No doubt the new stadium will be excellent; it had better be - every football fan in the country's going to be paying for it for the next century or two.

The old Wembley stadium was shit and a national embarrasment. But then so is the Maracana and how many of us would go to Rio and not visit that stadium? So my conclusion is that there should be always be a place for Wembley in the hearts of English football fans.

Personally I think they should have renovated the old Wembley, (and ideally asked Spurs or Arsenal or both if they wanted to rent it) at a very small cost (£80m or so, like at Hampden) and then built a new stadium in the middle of the country so that it is accessible to everyone.

Meanwhile, it will be a travesty if the Millenium Stadium is not used as semi final venue once the new Wembley is built, because the atmosphere inside and outside the ground is the best I've ever experienced by a long way.

Cardiff was one of the best days out ever! Lovely settings, Amazing ground, Good accessable pubs, good weather and victory to the albion and wicked atmosphere and support.

I dont mind travelling to wales as that was the first time ive ever been and just as you cross over that magnificant bridge (the severen) u can feel the atmopshere building from there! Im 100% glad ive experienced a play off final at cariff and we won, even better! Because when wembly is finished, i doubt we would ever have a chance to be there again!:(
