Would Liverpool sell us Teixeira in the summer?

No chance, he's highly regarded up there

:nono:
I can no longer take that phrase seriously having been told as a statement of fact, 'Gary Gardener is highly regarded at Villa'.

It wasn't even when he'd just arrived.
He'd been here long enough for me to be sick of him.

He is having a more vicentean nature to him recently. Ok that might make him a one-man show at times, but he's worth building a side around so that his ability to hold onto the ball and dance around a challenge or two really opens the game up for us. I can't imagine Liverpool would give him up or that he'd fancy a 4-year contract with us at this level. If Liverpool have too much hope in others next year he'll likely be off somewhere better, even in a side like Villa, or Derby if they go up.

Highly unlikely for 3 reasons:

1 Steven Gerrard reckons he's the next big thing and has predicted a fantastic future with Liverpool

2 He wouldn't want to come because he would be passing up the chance of playing in the Prem and would be earning about 3 times what we could afford even turning out for their reserves.

3 Probably cost at least £5m+

Agree but would love it obviously

He is a fantastic talent and looks like the real deal. He has also come on a bundle during this season and seems to have strengthened physically too and now mixes it up a bit. I don't think there will be much of a chance of signing him but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

No chance on a permanent, some chance of a loan. Then again, I was surprised we got Kaz on a permanent move at the time.

Sadly, we never really seem to be flavour of the month with players when it comes to signing. I'd love to hope that with David Burke (if he really was the problem) gone. We might be able to make better offers for fewer players....with not much more expense.

Quality rather than Quantity.

He's 22 now and has only played around 30 first team games. Wherever he is next season he really needs to play regularly for the sake of his career. That gives us a chance perhaps?

His contract expires at the end of the season. He is under 23 so compensation would be payable.

It might be up to the Albion to pay compensation, offer terms to compete with other clubs. We might be gazumped by one of the promoted clubs who could offer higher wages with all their TV money. Or Liverpool may decide to offer him a new contract for three years. I would expect Liverpool to want a fee in excess of £2.5 million to recoup their losses.

Even if he didn't stay with Liverpool he will be on plenty of teams radar. No chance

Not a chance sadly. He seems to really enjoy it here and is hitting some great form of late. If we were to pull it off we'd be looking at a fee perhaps in the £1.5 million range? Liverpool bought him for £830,000 and will want to at least recoup that.

1.5 m......Ill take that

unfortunately i think the lad is off our permanent radar,he has progressed well, but that is what the loan system was originally intended for.

would love to see him stay and watch him play but sadly i think there are others with bigger cheque books.

I agree that it is highly unlikely, however.....

One thing that I think is important is his resale value. If he is available, the fact that he is almost guaranteed to make us a profit if he doesn't gain us promotion could persuade Bloomy to part with £3million or so.

Didn't realise that his contract expires this year. Let's hope we can offer him a tempting deal and build the team around him and Kayal.

After the recent performances he has put in I would be very surprised if he is with us next season .

If Hyypia was still here he would have continued to look average and maybe we would have got him but wouldn't have wanted him. He now looks outstanding and the chances of us keeping him get worse every time he does as well as he did last night! Great prospect and will grace the prem soon I think

What really excites me about Tex is his brain. There are several players who can run like a fizzing firework across a pitch without actually achieving anything - it's impressive to watch but basically not hugely valuable to the game. Tex is so smart with the ball, the way he positions himself and the space he allows with his first touch is unbelievable. Very Vicentesqu.

We probably won't be able to afford him but it would be one hell of a sign of this 'ambition' I keep hearing the club bang on about.

If you want quality you pay for it. Just like Burnley, Leicester and Sunderland did.

This is the problem with Season long loans - gives you time to fall in love and believe that they are yours! I just can't see Tex staying, although I would desperately want him to. Not because I think Liverpool will necessarily see him in their 1st team (although its a possibility) but I would think Tex's ambitions stretch beyond us. I can see them taking him back in the summer, involving him in pre-season and then loaning him out again..maybe back to us, but maybe not. If no realistic future at Liverpool, he might just return to Portugal..

All players are effectively on loan nowadays. Some just less so than others.

I got arithmetic wrong. I think £2 million only would enable Liverpool to cut their losses. That is more about his value. The gamble would be that he continued improving as his technique at shooting could get better.

I would like to think Lualua could play the Tex role and I have done for two seasons or more. Maybe there is something about native intelligence and vision that can't be learned. Lualua has got the greater pace and better on his weak foot.

Next match up at home is Derby and they have Will Hughes who (from reports) seems to be outstanding as well.

The Leicester lad Knockaert is available I think, slipped well down the pecking order and is on his way to Ipswich on loan.

If we cant get Tex i would quite like us to make an effort for him over the summer

We need to try, first port of call would surely to ask the lad if he is interested? If so, then it is worth asking the question. He has serious talent, but needs games and experience if he is going to release his full potential.

This is a guy who can go on and become a £10m player. He isn't one now, may never become one, but he is worth the risk...
