To accept the status quo and be so certain an alternative party or leader would do worse is a nonsensical proposition

to use a football analogy, if your team were in the relegation zone and the manager was a dud, you wouldn't just accept it and thank your lucky stars that it somehow would be worse if the club hired a different manager

A pool of candidates comprising just Pardew and Garry Monk.

My related point on the "Tory meltdown" thread wasn't who would be the better PM.

I've not returned to that thread since this morning, but as i said there, I have little doubt that Corbyn would have done a better job than Johnson has done.

My point was that Corbyn was never going to be sent to Number 10 by the British elecroate, so it's rather a moot point whether he'd have done a better job or not.

I guess, when it comes down to it, the Tories are as good at winnng elections as Labout are at losing them. The left need to figure out how to reverse that position, and going "all in" on people like Corbyn isn't the answer.

having the full force of the media on your side controlling public opinion gives the Tories a huge advantage.

People wouldn't vote against their own interests, in favour of plutocracy if it was a level playing field

It appears that giving the electorate a better option doesn't work either.

The only thing that has worked in my lifetime is to become more Tory.

I guess the key to this is to find out what the electorate means when they say unelectable.

It's a tough one.

I didn't vote for Corbyn's Labour, but the idea an actual socialist would do worse during a pandemic than this woefuil government is ridiculous to the point of laughable.

The richest 5% would have suffered financially undoubtedly, but there would be about 100,000 people more alive than there is now.

Yes.

Corbyn would be worse.

Imagine Diane Abbott as Home Secretary.
Imagine John McDonnell as Chancellor
Imagine Emily Thornberry at Foreign Secretary.

It would be horrific.

Flawed, lying Johnson doesn’t make Corbyn, Burgon & Abbott less hopeless.

Looking back, the 2019 GE will go down as the weakest field.

Corbyn: Anti semitism not dealt with, obstructed, proven by the EHRC. A manifesto budget that was not credible (per the IFS), with vast spending pledges which were purportedly to be paid for by the top 5% - the sums didn’t add up.

To cap it all, on the EU they pretended to be both Remainers in SE England and Brexiteers in Wales, the midlands and north.

If you dare, watch this shadow cabinet ‘expert’ on the EU.

If you're looking for car crash interviews, there is currently one every day from a Tory MP.

Irrelevant question, those that believed what they were told to about Corbyn will still believe it.

Anyone seeking to redress the division of wealth inbalance in this country, will always be seen as incompetent and unelectable for some reason..

Different kind of bad. Not worse as that’s literally impossible. Johnson is comfortably the worst PM in living history.

The press would never give Corbyn a chance though, so it wouldn’t go well no matter what actions he actually took.

But we have the reality of Priti Patel as Home Secretary.
I’m sure Emily Thornberry would have realised the importance of Calais as a port, unlike Dominic Raab.
John McDonnell would be more likely to fund adequately the levelling up agenda, which clearly Sunak will not.
It’s not only Johnson. He has surrounded himself with a bunch of loyal incompetents.

But Corbyns incompetents would have been far far worse led by Momentum nuts. If he had changed that Labour would've won the last election
