Worthing Pier, this afternoon

Does anyone know why the fire brigade, police and ambulances were at worthing pier today. Went passed at about 5 ish this afternoon and it looked as though something quite serious was going on.

Or bizarrely why the turntable fire engine was up around 4pm near Black Rock. Not a tall building anywhere nearby, but a couple of Bry Nylon's mates 40 foot up in the air !

Or...why was there an armed policeman (it was one of those f*** off Gloch submachine guns too) at Brighton station yesterday at about 8 pm? He headed down with an unmarked silver police car towards the Steine shortly after.

Apparently a turkish man was threatening to jump off the pier which the police then closed whilst they tried to talk him out of it, dont know if he ended up jumping or not.

There was a rumour doing the rounds that one of the one armed bandits had actually paid out its jackpot.

Don't know if it was related; we drove past just before eight, a couple of police cars parked up with a few coppers milling around.

But then a police van turned up with the lights on; when we got past it we saw about 4 of them holding down one guy, putting the plastic ties on him.

There was a report of an innocent-Brazillian sighting, but the intended got off the Eastbourne train at London Road Station.
