The game last Sunday was a sell out, all ticket game, there were no POTG. The majority of those there will have bought online, and any that bought tickets from the ticket office could have had their details recorded (if they weren’t already) and then tickets for Mondays game could have been prioritised through those who were at the semi final.

A lot of the non-STH regulars will have been paying cash to get in, and the club will have no data-driven way to identify them.

Easy way to alleviate this problem would surely have been to give the people who attended the semi final v Maidstone priority for tickets as that particular game sold out beforehand with no pay on the gate tickets available.

Not perfect but at least more people who have actually watched Worthing this season would have had the opportunity to get a ticket and there details would have been on the database.

George Dowell also put out his own statement on Twitter which I wholeheartedly agree with. Anyone who has decided to give him any abuse or stick because of this needs their head hanging in shame for what he's done to help this club stay alive and thrive for the past nine years.

I still agree with a lot that's already been said before in this thread and that the club/George have echoed. That lessons need to be taken from this into next season across the board - whatever division we're in. The first two sellouts we've had in our history within two weeks is still mindblowing to think about.

All we can do now on Monday is the same as last Sunday: get behind Aarran and the lads from before kickoff and all the way to the end, whatever the result.

The logic of wanting to make things easier for families is understandable though. Obviously it’s backfired horribly but the logic came from a good place.

Even if you include people on multiple devices, 6000 people being on the site at 19:59 is ridiculous. There’s no way the club could have expected that many people to be in the queue.

nah this isnt really the case, those tickets were on sale for a good few days before finally selling out, so any proper Worthing fans who missed the semi only have themselves to blame

You are right, there was plenty of time to get a ticket for last Sunday. Just saying, there was a lot that jumped on the bandwagon. I happened to meet up with a few myself.

The ludicrous part for me is when the club says "it's unprecedented" and ".... lessons learned for the future". Anyone with some awareness would have easily foreseen the potential problems with their chosen methods, without actually having to experience it for themselves. I mean, if you watched 10 people in a row walk along an icy pavement and all fell over, you wouldnt have to actually walk out yourself and also fall over to learn there is probably a better option.

It's very easy to criticise but it is clearly unprecedented for Worthing. I've attended 7 games at Woodside Road this season - less than the 22 I went to last season (including going to the semi final play off away to Oxford City) because I attended so many more Albion aways. I was unsuccessful in getting a ticket for the final. I'm disappointed but it is what it is.

Other than restrict the number of tickets an individual could purchase to 1 or 2, I'm not sure what more could have been done. They allowed 4 as Worthing is a family club and I see so many families - mum & dad & young kids - at games. Big issue if those families that attend most games could only get 1 or 2 tickets.

It's all very well at a late stage talking about using a loyalty scheme, but I'm not sure what percentage actually buy tickets via Ticketpass for 'normal' games. I do - but loads just POTG. So introducing a ticket purchase scheme based on loyalty would have been impossible.

It's worth reading these words from George who is clearly gutted how it turned out.

Once again, while maybe in jest, may I direct you to my post on Page 5, because it's still all too raw and personal for those who actually give a damn about Worthing.

As @jackalbion has already pointed out, there's been a lot of double standards on this thread in the way this game has been talked about and the blasé nature of the discussions.

If this was Albion fans missing out for an Albion game of the same nature and stature, there would not be the same joking around about it that there has been. It would have turned this into an absolute binfest.

As a fan of both clubs, for me no game Albion have played since getting to the Premier League is as important as the one on Monday. So you'll understand why emotions are running high.

I did point this out earlier in this thread when some loyal fans openly admitted to having spares, purchased in order to “look after their own” perhaps they could could help your mates out ?

Fans of football want to go to a big match where there is likely to be atmosphere, it’s a bank holiday and it’s going to appeal to casual observer/band waggon jumper.

Sadly, for Worthing fans, if tickets go on sale to the general public, the general public are gonna buy them.

Sometimes it’s useful, Peacehaven benefited from bandwagon jumper’s when we got SIX times our usual gate when we played in the quarter final of the vase (luckily it was six times sod all so we all got in)

I think Enfield and Chatham fans have a problem with ticket sales, Chatham certainly do.

My boy wanted to go so I agreed to go with him, on reflection I’m pleased we didn’t get any tickets as we’re certainly “not worthy”

I’m sorry to read that you’ve got the ‘ump that people are joking on here, but this ISN’T a Worthing message board so to compare it to an Albion ticket fest is not feasible. Some on here will be blasé.

I think it’s safe to say that long standing football people on here that are familiar with the non league scene have every sympathy and certainly feel the disappointment that the proper fans will be feeling. None of us think it’s funny.

There is only certain amount they can hoard though, there is a very small amount that got through, and the recipients have included volunteers. If they are 'openly admitting' to it, is because they are helping people who have been going for years. This person who's mates have been going for years also missed out because random people got some, there should have never been a situation where volunteers weren't getting tickets, I don't know why it is a problem that these people purchased spares. With a lack of loyalty point system, I'd probably say that these people are best placed to hand them out.

I’m confused though at what point you are making to me though for taking the piss out of people buying a match ticket that may have never been to a Worthing game.
I am a non league fan though (not Worthing) and feel sorry for any regular supporters of Worthing that haven’t got a ticket.
