Shit refs favouring the big sides, exacerbated by VAR
Sky Sports seemed to be regularly turning up at the Amex when we were doing well, seem to remember plenty of games moved for tv to Fridays and Mondays. The constantly changing kick off times. The one thing I do like with the Championship is that most games are 3pm on Saturdays other than the midweek schedules.
I've spent most of the season telling Leeds and Newcastle fans that we're actually not all that great this season, and suddenly in the last week they've started telling me that we're shit (in a nice way, to be fair. I don't bother talking to arseholes).People who know f-all about football and are plastic supporters of ‘big‘ clubs sending you messages with some half-arsed assessment of what they think ‘is going wrong at Brighton’
Yup. We had a lot of Friday night games when we were doing well in the Championship. If you are near the top of the Championship you don’t get many 3pm on a Saturday. A lot of evening games as well. Some viewing the Championship with rose tinted glasses.
I try not to comment on X about the Albion anymore or read replies to the official BHAFC account, used to be great when it was Twitter and before we got promoted.People who know f-all about football and are plastic supporters of ‘big‘ clubs sending you messages with some half-arsed assessment of what they think ‘is going wrong at Brighton’
It’s also so, so easy to go 4 / 5 / 6 losses in a row if the fixture list isn’t kind and you find yourself in a position like we’ve been in the last couple of monthsThr PL is brutal. You can be in decent form, play really well yet get sucker punched by a team that's offered nothing all game. Almost all teams have at least one top, top player who can punish you.
In the championship, if you're a decent team regardless of your stature (within reason) you can go on massive winning/unbeaten runs.
Does your Ipswich friend come from Norwich? It seems that way if his POV is correct. Honestly, what a complete load of tosh. You get promoted you deal with it, it’s called reward for your endeavour in having a successful season. This cobblers about another season in the Championship is laughable. Ipswich have spent 21 years trying to get out of the Championship plus the year they went into League One. I would imagine more than any other club that they’ve had a belly full of second tier fare.I think that the Ipswich friend’s POV was that another season in the Championship, strengthening the squad etc and then getting promoted to stay up, would be preferable than a season up and then going straight back down.
Come on. There are only 3 or 4 new threads a week on NSC like thatPeople who know f-all about football and are plastic supporters of ‘big‘ clubs sending you messages with some half-arsed assessment of what they think ‘is going wrong at Brighton’
It has always been like that, though. We have only been in the top flight for a few years so it seems like a new thing to us. When they were talking about how Manure will need to bounce back from their draw against Bolton before their Important next match against Arsenal, we weren't taking any notice. Instead we were waiting for a 30 second clip of our win against Rotherham on the Football League Highlights show at ten past midnight, with Steve Claridge and the woman with the strange blond hair.Punditry
When smaller club beats bigger club, it's reported as bigger club missing out on going top/second/third, rather than being beaten by smaller club and how astonishing that is. I know they all have to follow the money and the bigger clubs help bring in money for the 'brand'...but it makes my brow furrow
