Tonight's big match between Barcelona and Inter was sadly marred by an awful referee. It was just unbelievable how much he stopped play. Its ridiculous that the Champions league actually employs this standard of refereeing.
As bad as the refs have been at Withdean this season, they've been nothing in comparison to tonights ref.
I watch a fair amount of spanish football and I've noticed too how bad their refs are. They don't seem to try and keep a game under control but instead stamp their authority on the game as quick as they can with needless bookings and petty whistle blowing, just like the ref tonight.
I know everyone will be talking about how great Mourinho is and how Barcelona may of been just a tad bit over-hyped, but for me it was the ref who stole the show tonight. He didn't allow any tackles or advantage. He missed every deflection when deciding whose ball it was when it went out of play. He wasted more time than any player (and that's saying something), he tonight showed a clear lack of understanding and reading of a game and was taken advantage of by all the players with non stop cheating.
I really hope this summers World-cup isn't littered with these 'don't have a clue' refs.
I'm actually starting to realise that English refs aren't half as bad as we make them out to be.
