[Football] Worst Pundit on England

Chris Waddle by a country mile.

I’ve never liked him as pundit, so negative and arrogant but he knocks the negativity out the park on the latest (today) BBC’s Daily Euro pod as he lays into Ben White. What a prat. His knowledge on our boy seems to be limited to his false statement that ‘he was a midfielder at Leeds, not a centre back’ as he tries to argue that 5ft10” Kyle Walker is a better centre back choice than our Ben in an England back two for Croatia. I guarantee he has not seen a minute of Ben playing for us this season. Idiot. Starts at 09:00 if anyone else wants to get angry.

Rant over.

Chris Waddle is entirely bitter about having to track back during his England career. He is always 100% negative about England as a result. Noticed this at Brazil 2014 and it’s been consistent ever since. He should be removed from broadcasting from England or just give him an official bitter devils advocate slot.

As for his observations on Ben White:

- Ben White played in midfield for Leeds
- he can’t play centre half
- he looks a midfield player to me

Could he be more wrong? He suggested Shaw and Walker at centre back in a three. Just do one Waddle. As another poster said, if you don’t know, don’t offer punditry on it you bitter ****er

Ashley Cole.

They had him on the FA Cup final with Lineker, Wright and Shearer and he was so out of his depth.

He is truly utter dross. Referred to Ben White as "Unexperienced" and had nothing to offer above cliches. I think me and my fellow coaches are better tactically manging our U10's team than he would be when I listen.

You'd be better off getting a decent gambler on the case like Mark Langdon. Ask him about North Macedonia and he will know because there is potentially money to be made and he can't afford not to research them. This is what you want rather than thinking whoever they are playing will brezze past them 3 or 4 nil because they don't know where it is on a map and the players have funny names.

Surely there is room for at least one pundit who hasn't played the game? If a keeper makes an error why is Ashley Cole seen as a better bet to give an opinion just because he played left back?

Not sure about worst, but Garth Crooks is the CREEPIEST. Seriously strange person

A mate of mine was in the same bible study group as Garth when they were kids in Leicester. Apparently when he was a kid 'he went on a bit' :lolol:

Jimmy Armfield was the best in my books. How we got from there to Clinton Morrison, I will never know.

I hate to say it but I like CM.

Yup. Waddle flouting his ignorance to happily put down a young player at the start of his international career was infuriating.

I wish someone could show him this:

I heard it today as well, utterly infuriating there was no one there to correct his laughable ignorance.

Ignorance about teams, players. That’s slightly forgivable but still bad for a pundit. Who’s PAID for his expert opinions.
But to be confidently ignorant, and proudly make judgements based on your ignorance is horrific.

For those who missed it. Chris was laughing off the suggestion that Ben White should start for England. “He’s just a rookie”. And even more laughable “he hasn’t even played much as a CB”(?), and to top it off “at Leeds he didn’t even play in defence. Bielsa mainly played him in midfield”.

Again, bloke in the pub, you can laugh it off.
Social media, or ignorance on NSC, annoying but forgivable.
But if you’re getting paid money, why run down a hugely talented young player, at the start of his international career? At least find out a modicum of information before doing so. Sorry to bother you, but we are paying you for this.

Oh dear it looks like that effort by Waddle has gone miles over the bar
