There are just so many under the reign of Graham Taylor, but for me it has to be the selection of Andy Gray (Palace).

Having never made a squad before, Graham suddenly called him up for the crucial final qualifying game in Poland. Straight into the starting line-up to play alongside Geoff Thomas nono: ). By half-time it was apparent that it was a huge mistake, even to Mr Taylor. He was subbed and never called into another squad.

Graham Taylor, what a truly dreadful England manager.

Redland - I'm having a bad morning, and I wasn't thinking straight! You're right! To nominate Heskey as the worst England player ever is a gross injustice. I do think he's struggling at the moment, but he was in that team in Munich (2 years ago yesterday!), and scored.
