The Tasmanian Devil has done well to reach the last eight but it has had something of an easy ride thus far. It was fortunate to find itself in the Group of Soft, having to fend off the likes of the Horse and the Blue Diamond Tiger Shrimp. Then it was given what was effectively a bye with a tie against the Basset Hound. Things have changed rather abruptly with a match up against the Polar Bear and the Tasmanian Devil will have to play the game of its life to reach the semis. Named after the Devil and the creature that gave birth to Taz, the Looney Tunes lunatic, the Tasmanian Devil is certainly hard in popular culture. It will eat just about anything and will eat an entire carcass, leaving nothing whatsoever behind. It's bite force is the strongest relative to body size of any living mammalian carnivore. In its day to day life the Tasmanian Devil spends a lot of time fighting, often scrapping over dinner and indulging in decidedly rough mating. Mummy Devil will give birth to 20-30 joeys but has only four teats so the young that cannot fight their way to an available nipple will not survive. Basically Tasmanian Devils begin by fighting and don't really stop.

2nd Round beat the Asian Giant Hornet with 24 votes

A big star in the WHC firmament, the Polar Bear will be very hard to stop. However, its supporters have not really turned out to date. The Polar Bear has attracted the least votes of any of the last eight and will need to bring its undeniable class to this encounter if it is to progress. The Polar Bear, a three time WHC winner is a skilled hunter with more than one method of bringing down its prey. It feeds primarily on seals but will also take down such seafood exotica as narwhal and and walrus. It relies on an incredible sense of smell and can detect a seal's breathing hole from a kilometre away. On open ice it will smell a seal from up to 30 kilometres. When ambushing prey it can charge at up to 25 mph. When caught, the prey is often dispatched with a single bite to the head. It's time for this classy WHC competitor to show what it's really capable of.
