IF he is named, then this would be an absolute joke. It would boil down to nothing else other than blind desperation to take a teenager who has started ZERO Premiership games.

However, its such a fuckwitted idea that I wouldn't actually put it past Sven, unfortunately.

He cant win can poor Sven, weeks of the media telling us the World Cup is over cause Rooney is out, the closest sort of player we have to him is Walcott, makes sense to take him, although i think Lennon will go instead of SWP anyway.

How can anyone possibly know if Walcott is "the closest thing to Rooney" that we've got ? Unfortunately we simply don't have any other player even remotely like Rooney, and taking a teenager with zero Premiership (let alone European) experience after playing only a handful of matches at the arse-end of the Championship would be utter, utter madness. This is the World Cup we're talking about, not the Domestos Regional County League Southern Division.

Walcott is a decent prospect at the moment, nothing more, nothing less. He shouldn't be anywhere NEAR the England squad yet, never mind the World Cup one. Mental.

Not taking into the account he could be fearless and teams will know nothing about him?

Its all very "Roy of the Rovers" I'm sure, and would make a hell of a good story. But he's not yet even made the step-up to the Premiership yet, let alone International. Any professional who has played at the highest level will tell you that the gulf in class between domestic and International football is huge. We simply don't know if he's equipped to cope with that, and a World Cup Finals tournament is certainly NOT the place to find out with random experiments on youngsters from the reserves. It would be absolutely IDIOTIC for Sven to take Walcott to the World Cup.

Im indifferent to the idea, however i think it could work - he has seen something in him and he goes to more matches/training sessions etc than any other England manager that I have seen.

if he did get in, and gets a game, would he be the first english player to be capped before he has played in a top flight league game?

Off the top of my head - Steve Bull did it, probably

Presumably he also "saw something" in Andy Johnson as well - doesn't mean I want him on the plane to Germany.

He was the top english goal scorer at the time - which is fair enough.

More than half his goals came from the penalty spot though, usually as a result of one of his swandives. Might be worth bringing him on in the event of a shootout I suppose, but we'd have to be desperate.

Oh shit. We ARE desperate.
