Yeah we can't meet Brazil until the semi's, BUT we can face Germany in the secound round, and the quarters would almost certainly be against either Portugal, Holland, or Argentina. That's why I put quarter finals (optimistically).

When put like that, my vote for us to win it is looking like a moronic bit of decision making

We can do Portugal or Holland, Argentina would be tougher but we've beaten the, before. Brazil and Italy are the teams that would frighten me.

I don't think that Germany will set the World alight, despite having home advantage, for me the winners will be either Argentina or Brazil, beat either or both of them and we will probably kick off our first game at the new Wembley as World Champions...that is if the Aussies ever finish building the blooming thing.

We did get knocked out by Portugal - on penalties. Doesn't say much. WE are a bit stronger now I think, we are easily as good as them.
Argentina we CAN beat, if we play to our best. I am sure of it.

On paper England are easily as good as Portugal.

Without wishing to start another Sven debate though, they have the edge in terms of the manager though. Scolari is an excellent motivator and made some brilliant changes in 2004 against us, and I think thats the difference.

I agree. I don't think anyone will deny that Scolari is more astute (and usually brave) in his substitutions than Errikson. That levels the playing field imo as I think we are just a bit better than them in terms of players.

We've got the best 11 individuals on paper since at least 1990, but are we a TEAM yet?

With Sven in charge we'll need all the luck going, but we could do it.
