Just having a discussion at work, after Owen - Rooney and Defoe, who else would you have on the bench should Rooney or Owen become injured?

It is a tough one.

If he gets a move to a Premiership team and scores a few I would say Dean Ashton but he is hardly going to scare the shit out of other teams defences.

Darren Bent?
Andy Johnson?
Alan Smith?

Hardly Robinho, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Adriano et al

Exactly, think we may have problems if the current front two are "Taken" out!!

i'd maybe go for harewood, or more likely vassell

Vassell is good option and is now coming on form, have we got a friendly bewteen now and next summer?

I would like to see him get a game and see how he does!

How about shoving John Terry up front?

Carlton Cole cannot be too far down the pecking order because after the obvious three or four you start delving into the under 21s.

I'd play only Owen as lead with Rooney deeper - creates so much more.

I am not to worried as we have two proven midfielders that score Gerrard and Lampard plus potentially Cole.

I think Vassell's had his chances and been proved not good enough - okay, he's doing well in the Prem, but so's his strike partner, one Andrew Cole.

Defoe's not in the greatest of form this year, but it's a measure of our lack of options up front that he's still probably the third best forward.

Owen and Rooney - no question first choice. Defoe for back up, maybe Marcus Bent if good enough. Mind you, with the form of Andy Cole, I wouldn't rule him out either despite his age.

Crouch is a far better option than Defoe and from listening to Sven he seems a certainty. Defoe is a selfish runt who contributes little in his quest for goals. He's a poor mans Owen. I'd go Rooney, Owen, Crouch, Vassell.
