This is it then. From today teams start to go home. 1 down, 3 to go. Any two from Wales, Iran, USA or even England? No, cant see Wales scoring 4.
First up though Netherlands need only draw with homewards bound (not really, they're already at home) Qatar. Senegal need a victory over Brighton Ecuador, anything else and they too go home sending Brighton Ecuador through.
Get the pizza in for 7:00 when local rivals play the M4 Derby. Firstly Wales need to win. End of, nothing less. Then they have to hope that Iran & USA play out a boring draw. Should either Iran or USA win then Wales need to beat England by 4 clear goals thus sending England home. One would hope that at 3:0 Southgate would make some positive changes.
One other thing. Winners of group B (England and others) play runners up of A (Netherlands ..........) and vice versa 2nd plays 1st.
And finally, it's on BBC so we are bound to win. The ITV curse can strike in the next round.

Watching the Netherlands, as part of my heritage, and must say they are a pale imitation of the old great sides...

Van Gaal could bore an arsehole in a wooden horse with his negative tactics...yuk

I think Van Gaal is what they need with the current team. Of course with any Gaalian coach it is more boring than with a Cruijffian, but you can do more with less if you have a Gaalian... and less it what they currently have. Quality wise the Netherlands should barely reach the quarter finals.

It certainly is dull though and I look forward to Koeman taking over again... though before that, it would be nice if van Gaal could win the World Cup, despite the boring tactics...

The goalmouths seem remarkably uncrowded at both ends compared to recent games. In fact there seem to be wide open spaces all over the pitch. Unless of course it's some kind of odd optical illusion caused by the colour scheme of all orange, all white and all ultra-green grass. What gives?

Maybe we'll get 3 players back earlier than expected?

Boo.

Would suck if Ecuador went out considering how well they played in their first two games (looking a bit shite today unfortunately).

It would remove the risk of split loyalties in an England v Ecuador clash though.
