Took my new bike out for its first proper ride since buying it, first time riding in nearly 10 years and I forgot how fun it can be.

I did cheat though.

I'll post my usual but unspectacular 8ish miles from my commute. Potentially with some bonus miles if I'm feeling adventurous on the way home, but probably not. I'm not feeling too much in the legs today so I'll be keeping the journey at short as possible on the way home.

I like casual cyclists, but the dickheads who take it too seriously, both the mountain biking twats hurtling down footpaths on the South Downs and those lycra clad idiots who think they're recreating the tour de France can **** right off. ***** the lot of em.

It's got a sodding great battery pack and Bosch electric motor on it.

I'm amazed by it though as I just did a quick test ride along the coast road from Peacehaven to the Marina to see what the bigger hills would be like and I was averaging 12mph up them. Not bad for someone pushing 22 stone and not having ridden in about a decade.

Excellent, you won't be 22 stone for long.

Chapeau

Well without knowing that, I was looking after my 6 year old grand nephew today.

We cycled up the old railway track to the Devils Dyke, over to the escapement, down to Foredown tower, through the farm and up to Benfield Hill and then back down to Hangleton Manor.

It was glorious. When we got back he wanted to do it all again.
