in other news
The county season is set to end in unheard of fashion next week. The England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed that Kent will face Glamorgan at Canterbury in a day‑night match in white clothing with a pink ball.

Hours of play will be 2pm to 9pm and floodlights will be turned on at 5.30pm each day, or earlier if the light dictates. The experiment will provide further evidence towards MCC's campaign for day‑night Test matches to be introduced in some countries to stem falling attendances

how much at risk of relegation are we?

Well, we can't bat, can't bowl and our fielding is shakey. Other than having a nice newly re-furbed home ground, we have little in common with the other counties...

At the moment, quite a feasible, if not areasonable, proposition. We have FAILED to win any of our last 8 matches in any form of cricket:mad:
Bottom 4 (of which 2 go down) - With two games left (or 1 in Yorkshire's case)
Sussex 136
Worcestershire 133
Yorkshire 119 (and played a game more)
Hampshire 114

What must NOT happen is Hampshire and Yorkshire to win any of their games
What MUST happen is for Worcestershire and Sussex to draw the match they are currently playing, AGAINST ONE ANOTHER -

I fear a Spurs-Saints stitch up repeat scenario

and yet up until the start of August there was a serious chance that we could win the Championship - and semi finals of the T20 and the Pro40 is hardly a failed season -for an example of that look at Kent!

It a failed season if having done so well up to 1/2 way you totally fall apart and fail to win any matches until the end. It certainly doesn't bode well for how we might start next season without changes

The problem is the manner and speed of the decline. Across the entire team there seems to be a collapse of confidence, morale and ability. From our form previously in the season, we should have made one of the one day/20/20 finals. An abject defeat in a semi-final should not be regarded as a sign of some success. Sussex Sharks should be renamed Sussex Jellyfish.

when was the last season we didnt win a trophy?
We were due a bad one eventually

And to be fair it wasnt a terrible seaon until August started

I would have expected a degree of grinding out the results to consolidate after promotion to Div 1. No shame in being beaten by a better team but, its the lack of application or fight that hurts.

We have been spoiled over the last decade, but it has been a very meek battle to stop the rot. Too reliant on a few key players and expecting too much of our youngsters.

The trophyless years seem to have coincided with a promising/trophy winning season from BHA, so...

I think this year it's been a combination of things: Yardy's illness, Luke Wright's absence, lack of senior players taking up the slack (i.e. Joyce, Nash, Monty), retirement of good players and some pretty ordinary bowling.

Sadly, Anyon, Amjad Khan and Parnell are not Lewry, Kirtley and RMJ.

Joyce who's scored the fourthest highest amount of runs in CC this season (Goodwin's 3rd)?
Panesar who's the 3rd highest wicket-taker?
