i like watching brian cox's programmes, stargazing with dara o brien was outstanding, i even considered changing from doing mechanical engineering to astro/aeronautical engeering at uni after watching it. i also like that he apparently broke the large hadron collider while it was being built by spilling his drink on it haha

I do like the way Dr Cox has done all his degrees and doctorates etc. and is clearly thrilled about this all stuff - a bit like a schoolboy.

This programme as EXCELLENT. One of the best things I've seen on telly for ages, really got me THINKING. Heartily recommend a catch up on the iplayer if you didn't see it.

Very good programme, loved his explaination of the second law of dynamics and entropy, if teachers had been like that when I was at school I might just have gone further than O/Level in physics. The other bit that I thought was good was in northern Peru where he was explaining the calendar made from mounds of stones on the top of a ridge, bloody clever!

Yeah, that entropy stuff was explained very well.

I'm gonna watch this show again.

What do you expect, the hitherto unkown origins of the universe revelead on a Sunday night on BBC Two?
If you know it all already than well done, that's good. A lot of people don't and if this programme educates and entertains them than that can only be a good thing.

I wouldn't recommend his book and relativity though. I have read many modern scientifc book and astro-physics, quantum mechanics, evolution etc. but disappointingly found this one quite tough going - even though I already understood the basics. Was rather a disappointment really.

I thought it was great, as were the episodes of his last series. I think he gets the pacing of it spot on - he tells you enough for it to be thought provoking but not so much (or so quickly) that it's overwhelming. Relating everything to things we can see on Earth gives it all context and makes it more than just fancy CGI of space.

Looking forward to the next one.

read hawkins 'universe in a nutshell' - loads of pictures, loads of crystal clear high level info - aimed at someone with half a brain.

also chase down the work of nassim haramein too, there is some real ground breaking substance in there.
