Sorry but why does this blogger get so much bloody grief!? It's a blog ffs the spelling doesn't matter that much, I always find it a good read.

Indeed.

It reads as though some are:

1. Plainly envious that they're not the ones writing the column.
2. Masking this envy by complaining about spelling mistakes.

With the regular comments on this guy's threads and those of The Albion Roar, it's like a battle of overly-precious, small-town, bit-part media career egos.

The saddest aspect is that all the main perpetrators are old enough to know better.

Er, no. As a professional writer of over eight years standing, I get annoyed when poor writing gets column inches.

The premise of the piece is fine - it's just badly written.

If it was just Tim's blog then that would be fine. It's not, though, it's a newspaper's.

The premise of the piece is fine - it's just badly written.

That's fair enough - you're speaking from a professional position.

Yes, the blog should be open to criticism - content, spelling, grammar, etc.

Ultimately though, if the Argus are happy enough to be associated with it, that's all that matters.

Of course, the question of whether a personal blog should naturally require a separate thread every week on NSC, or whether it's more a case of blatant self-publicity at issue here, still remains.
