[Football] Women’s WC Final - who is watching?

Not me. I don't get the excitement over it, it's a rubbish standard, most people who are 'into it' are because it's the 'in thing' to say you like women's football, where were you 10 years ago? The fact Rishi and Prince William aren't going tells you all you need to know.

Perhaps you should just give it another go? It’s the same sport you love, but a slightly different game. The women have crafted a style that’s no less exciting. Physicality and pace is different sometimes - that’s all.

I remember watching the WC 4 years ago and in just that short space of time the standard has got better. With the investment that will continue, and there’s space for both games.

By all means give it a miss, but I think you’ll be missing out on a national event. Sadly, the point you make about our head of state not being there is a good one. What is the point of a head of state (and their family) if they don’t show up for this? It’s undermining. Perhaps we make sure they are not at any future sporting events.

And lastly, if nothing else, just watch because it’s different. Every 4 years, when the Olympics come around, we fall in love with sports that we wouldn’t give the time of day to. We watch people who have got to the top of their game and marvel at the skill. This is no different. And these 11 women on the pitch have done that.

I hope they’ll change your mind.

So if your kids or grandkids play you won't bother watching them because they're not as good as PL teams? You don't always have to compare things, just enjoy them.

Can't be arsed to get into a row with someone bemoaning the standard of women's football. It's pointless. Don't watch it if you don't want to, but as a football fan I think you're the one missing out.

All I'll say is that it is probably ten times better and more.competitive than it was a decade ago, and that has to be a good thing - especially those with daughters who love the game.

This world cup has largely been very watchable. More so than I expected actually, as many of the weaker nations have acquitted themselves well.

It really gets my back up. The utter ignorance of it. Cricket is my main sport and as a result I have friends with girls who are entering the game. More so than ever before. I'm not great at spotting football talent, but cricket I am very good at. I saw my friend's girl bowling at 10 in a game and said straight away that, if she chose to stick with game, she would play for England. They can do so because the opportunities are there now. Clubs with large girls sections. Just 15 years back I don't believe this would have happened.

It's the same with footie, although I don't know much about the club structures. But I know more will enter the game because of the last couple of years at national level. Yet a small number of folk seem intent on ridicule forgetting that it is them that have caused the problem. Investment=talent. Standards have improved immensely in recent times. Some of the football in that semi-final was sublime.

I don't like being abusive, but I wish those with attitudes like CB would pick up their clubs and f*** off back into the caves they came from.
