If we got promoted (and I realise it's a big if) would we tend to loan out our players less so we could compete in the top youth league or would the club still prefer loaning out players to lower league clubs? Difficult one. I still think league football is far more valuable experience for young players but surely if we loaned out too many we'd get relegated straight back down?

There is an odd exception, but it is an exception rather than a rule. Some players are early developers but most develop more in their early 20s.

Ryan Sessegnon is freakishly good for his age, so he plays. His twin brother isn't, so he doesn't - I doubt the Fulham fans are complaining about it.

Connolly is already playing U23s at (just) 18, so he's ahead of 'schedule'. If he did struggle physically in the cup game he played, then it is because he needs to learn to use his physique (rather than being 'lightweight'). He's a big strong lad - like Rooney at that age.

How many 17 year olds do you see tearing up the Premier League, The last young player to come through to make a real Impact from memory would be Rashford, However look at Harry Kane, he was in his 20s before he cut it at Spurs.

Development and growth are key and each player needs to be looked after differently, a blanket rule simply does not apply.

We have to name a 25 man squad, and having the luxury of a young inexperienced player on the bench who may be able to come on once we're 3-0 up cannot happen at this level.

We have experienced coaching staff who we have to trust to assess who can make the step up and who can't.
