Wolves fined for fielding weakened team

Sorry to be pedantic but he only made TEN changes, the goalie was the same.

And like others have said, this fine is a joke! If Utd had made 10 changes in that match then no-one would have said anything!

I think this fine is just so Chelsea and Arsenal dont moan IF Utd win the title by a couple of points. If they did nothing and Utd won it because of that game (which they probably would have won anyway) then I can see there being trouble, especially if Wolves pick up a point or even 3 against the team finishing 2nd!!!!!

Joke decision, but then what would you expect from the jokers 'running' our national Football leagues?

25k , wow !!

Isn't this a bit like a non league side moaning about us fielding a weakened side in the JPT

Good decision, on the basis that I find Mick McCarthy to be an utterly abhorrent, Northern, miserable bastard

Surprisingly enough, he is actually a pretty nice bloke. Very polite and always willing to have a quick chat with the bobble-hatted old men that turn up at Wolves training ground to watch reserve team friendly matches. He's got quite the sense of humour too.

I think the Premier League have shot themselves in the foot somewhat. As has been mentioned elsewhere in the thread, Manchester United have fielded a weakened team and not been punished. In my head all this had done is reinforced my pre-existing notion that the Premier League aways favour the bigger clubs. Let us also not forget that it was hardly a youth team that was put out by Wolves at old Trafford - all of the players had vast first team experience at Wolves, or in a top league elsewhere in Europe.

All in all however, this is a token gesture by the FA. A non-punishment if you will. The fine is suspended. McCarthy is a wiley chap and won't make the same mistake again and Wolves, therefore, won't have to pay up.

Really? If i were him i would definitely do it again because its very easy to justify the silly little fines in the face of the millions they will earn by staying up.

Has Chris Iwelumo ever been to Scotland ?

Why is it team weakening when Wolves do it and rotation when utd do it?

Because they played Chris Iwelumo. Now officially useless. Sign him up!

McCarthy went right down in my estimation.
I see him now pretty much as I do Allardyce. All that matters is survival in the Prem.
God, Allardyce. How I loathe that tosser.
I'll add Steve Bruce to those 2 as well. Has he ever done an interview where he hasn't moaned about the ref?

It shows what a farce the Premiership is when the league season is all about staying up at any cost, rather than enjoying the opportunity to play at Old Trafford, Anfield, etc.

That is all the premiershite is about...money and nothing else. Just look at the utter dross picking up millions every year to barely compete with the top 4 but widening the gap between them and the championship year on year...

For me it was great squad management. He rested his best players for their next match, against Burnley - a match they went on to win. Come the end of the season, that result could well be the difference between staying up and getting relegated. If Wolves had played their best XI against Man Utd, they still probably would have lost, and would not have been as fresh for the Burnley game.

I know, and it completely stinks.

For those that say it was okay; when we were in the Championship, would you have been happy with McGhee picking a reserve side to play away at West Ham/Sheffield Utd, saying that we needed them for the next game? I would have been bloody livid, and I suspect a lot of other people as well; it would certainly have been a stick to beat McGhee with.

Out of interest, do any of these people backing Wolves reckon that we should put the reserves out tomorrow?

As its a suspended fine, doesn't that mean they don't actually pay anything?

Suspended until they play a weakened team again. So they can't play Chris Iwelumo :smokin:

Rubbish! You might rest your best players against Stoke for fear of getting kicked to death or injured.

Hey Boss. Can I have the day orf (miss that important presentation) so I can do the dross paperwork on Monday, in case I get too tired and burned out from working too hard!
