Was there for both, back in the old days when you could get round from one end of the ground to the other if you liked to get behind the goal we were attacking. Watched both from the front of the chicken run, about where the away section was placed some years later. Still got the programmes.

I was there for both of them. I seem to remember Wisbech played all in red for what it's worth

I was there for both but can't remember the colours they played in. I just recall thinking that we couldn't possibly score that many goals in consecutive home matches but they kept going in!

Was there for both games.
Behind the south goal for Wisbech and east terrace for Southend.
19 goals in 2 games. Don't think I'll ever see that again.

Think I am correct in saying that the week between these two games we won 1_0 away at Bournemouth. Also remember Southend being racked with injuries so had to play a 16 year old in goal. Poor kid looked shell shocked at the end.

Remember Southend's goal as being the best of the game. Think the guy was called Slack. Picked up the ball 35 yards out and hit a screamer into the top corner. Didn't celebrate...just turned round and walked back with a .." why the f-ck couldn't I do that at 0-0 in a tight game " expression on his face.
I remember some hattricks in both games. I am right in saying Jack Smith got a trio in both games?

I was there for both we were 3-0 up at half time in both games. The great Jesse Pye played fort Wisbech who I thought wore Black shorts and White shirts but I may be wrong.

must admit never heard of Jesse Pye,looked him up

once scored 2 goals in a FA Cup Final for Wolves

also scored a hat-trick on his debut for Wolves against Arsenal

served in North Africa & Italy during WWII,so he missed out on around 6 years of his career (19-25 years old)

worked out he must of been 45 years old when he played that day at the Goldstone!
