Ha ha ha rooter - even better!! :lol:

:laugh::laugh:

With my limited knowledge of Aussie slang (mainly through listening to Kevin Bloody Wilson songs), I think I understand the source of your humourous response.

Spent a day setting up a bluetooth USB printer adapter so that our laptops can print wirelessly to a laptop which is now PC-less. What a cocking nightmare - it would be faster to walk upstairs with the laptop and plug the bloody thing in.

Surely if you have a wireless router you may as well get a wireless card for the desktop to get rid of all the wires.

Dont forget to sort out the security, otherwise anybody within range can use your wireless connection to get online themselves.

I was just intending to put the desktop and rooter (he he he) upstairs and forget about it so really I don't care if I have another doobery hooked up!

We had to get a new router a fortnight ago, we went with the Linksys Wireless G one, straight out the box, easy peasy set up that I managed to do alone.

Our desktop is wired to it as well and then the laptop, wii and ds are wireless on it.

Really recommend this one, was a billion times easier to get to work than the Netgear one we had previously.

We got it from ebuyer and used the google checkout and got it for less than half the price it is in Currys.

My bedroom is like the bermuda triangle. All wireless communication dies in there.

Wireless video, wireless LAN.

I'm wondering whether it is encased in lead, in the event of a nuclear war I'm staying in there.

There are 2 different types of router for home networks and it depends on whether you have a cable connection (technically known as DSL) or a modem type connection (technically known as ADSL). A quick look at the Tiscalli site implies that they use ADSL.

I brought a cable router last week for under £30 and its was easy to configure - almost totally automatic. I brought the Dynamode Wireless Cable DSL Router 802.11g from ebuyer (http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/116601). It has both wired and wireless connections. Worth a look for a good price.

The only thing I'd add (and I'm no expert - I'm doing research to buy a network myself, me) is to think about how far away you want the network to operate. If you want it to work in the garden as opposed to in the next room these router thingy's come in different strengths of signal which (from memory) are called g, g+ and g++.

One of the reasons I want a network is to use an Internet Radio - anyone else on here got one of those?
