So we are top. We all know what a transformation promotion would make. We have a chance to bring in the icing on the cale (some may say 'and also some more cake'). But who and what do we need?

For me, one more creative midfielder, and a goalscorer, probably powerful and nippy. I personally think that a bit of heroic spending is appropriate. Suggestions?

Agree with you on this front.

For me Hemed isn't the player to play alongside Baldock, I would go for a player like Ulloa.

Today proved that the midfield needs strengthening big time, Kayal and Stephens first class usually but Ince and Crofts????

How about the lack of a deadball specialist, haven't seen a great player at the Albion with these skills for some time now.

The problem with these threads is that many of the replies suggest we can have 14+ players. Yes, we need to be better at dead balls but short of having a rolling substitute a la hockey short corners who is going to be replaced by DB specialist?

Not the real one
Need a decent LB cover. I think Harper and Hambo might play a part this year. And yes I think Bloom will splash a bit of cash if we are around the top of the table after Christmas.

Two top quality strikers, another creative midfielder and a leader and total organiser like Greer but 5 years younger.

It's a long season and the squad is important, need 2 players per position plus any additions for a plan B or plan C.

1 left back, 1 creative midfielder, 1 pacey striker

Or select two first teamers and make them practice free kicks an hour every other day. It's quite unbelievable any professional can't take a free kick from 25-30 yards and hit the target virtually every time with pace and power, never mind the fact that out of ten outfielders we have no one that excels at it. We should be looking at 7 - 10 goals a season being scored this way, absolute no excuses and is a glaring part of our game that is missing. :annoyed:

If the noises from Naylor in relation to Argentina are true then the club's record transfer fee could be smashed.

Suspect it won't match what we received for Ulloa but that's more to do with Paul Barber's very impressive negotiating skills than anything else.

If we are top at Christmas then it's a great time to invest. In particular a striker who could be valuable in the premiership would be a great investment. I think we also need stronger cover /replacements for Bruno and Greer.

Imagine that scenario.

Long ball over the shoulder of Baldock who takes it first time with a sublime touch that would grace any world stage...

...we then call a time out, play is frozen and on comes Zamora to put it in the back of the net. Off goes Zamora again to rest whilst Baldock comes back on to do his CMS impression and allegedly run around a lot.

I often think football fans don't deserve success. We're top of the league and posts like this come out. Fair enough if you don't rate Baldock but snide remarks like this are pathetic.

Sorry, we're top of the league and you want to bring in four players in January. Four. We are obviously looking for a striker but we're certainly not going to bring in two. As for the others, we rarely buy more than two players in January so I would suggest that's the maximum this time.

We certainly wont be signing a decent striker, and will in all likelihood implode after Christmas

It's fair enough then because you're right, I don't rate Baldock.

It was more said in jest. I'm not complaining about anything else, certainly not the team, manager, performances or our league position. I've even been nothing but positive about yesterday's game because I can see the bigger picture.

If you can't see how much better Baldock is than CMS, then to be honest you obviously don't watch games. You're allowed not to rate him but, whether in jest or not, it was a snide remark and Baldock deserves better.

I think we have a leader in Kayal and I also think Bruno showed greAt character as captain yesterday too. We finally have that sorted.

All we really desperately need is a proven goalscorer because Bobby can't do it all on his own

Yes of course, that'll be it...my opinion differs from yours so therefore I don't watch games
I'd get over the snide remarks if I were you, you'll hear and read much much worse from football fans wherever you go, and about players much much better than Baldock too. It's all about opinions.
