Slade was not sacked because he was a nice guy, he was sacked because the team did not perform and the pressure on Brighton as a club is to be in the championship in 2 yrs is immense. Slade wanted to restructure the club, plan for the long term future he and cleared out a lot of deadwood which NSC has been screaming out for since I joined. His biggest mistake was not going further and getting rid of Adams flops, Livermore, Mcloud, Hawkins and sorry to say Virgo, the hangover from Wilkins era players like Elphick who I like, Cox who is talented but won't progress much beyond this division and Kuipers. This is not about the players but about a clean sweep. there is an obvious divide within the club with all the players sent off this season being at the club before Slade. I like Dicker, Bennett and Crofts and believe Dickinson will come good, Tunnicliffe is one for the future and Forster is an Albion legend. Whoever takes over needs to bring a couple of experienced heads and make sure the coaching staff instill respect and a degree of fear. I still believe Slade could have turned it round but will respect Bloom's decision. I also want to know how long will the new manager will have before his head is being called for if it goes tits up

Never much liked Oatway tbh, either. Mostly because he had very little talent.

I'll add Joey Barton to my theoretical table toppers too, I think.

Please tell me. Why use that name if you don't like talentless players who can only "put it about"? Or does that not include Dutch clowns who pogo in front of the other team's keeper at set peices? Just a thought like.

When I was TWELVE, I was easily impressed by an exotic foreign signing. I think a little deeper now I'm a grown up.

Oh right.... So you started on NSC that long ago? Blimey, they said NSC had been gong some years.... ....

Hilarious.

Kraay was a favourite at the time, and his name was the first that popped into my head when thinking up a random name. Could just have easily have been Terry Connor or Keran O'Regan.

Pork Pie means what exactly? You love reconstituted meat products? Or shit hats? Or its random and meaningless like every else?

It's got nothing to do with him being TWELVE and everything to do with him not being CLEVER enough to think of his own user name, so he STOLE my NSC name from the '90s. :nono:

I thought you said "I think a little deeper now I'm a grown up"? Clearly only when it comes to reasons to object to potential new managers... ...

I can fully understand why you liked Hans Kraay, we all did at the time. For me, it was not really that he was foreign, but because he "put himself about", and everyone would cheer "hans-ee, hans-ee etc.".

I think that you should reflect on why you really admired him, because he was a 110% player maybe, and just think what such commitment would add to our team at the moment. Denis Wise is that sort of person.

People talk about Micky Adams in a glowing light (first time). Everyone seams to have forgotten when he branded us all "southern softies". He was not as nice then as some people like to think - and nice people tend to come last!

I think that the choice of the Albion's next manager is worthy of a little more thought than my username on a messageboard.

And yes I admired Kraay's commitment. Fabulous. Doesn't make him and Wise the same 'sort of people' though.

We all want a winning team, and Wise is *not* head and shoulders above several other candidates.

I agree with you. However I'd be rather hypocritical if I wanted Coppell or Taylor to come back as I'm pretty sure I said on here that we should never had gone back when we employed Adams. I certainly said it in the real world.

Regardless of which though out of the list that VC are betting on he and Gus Poyet would probably be my first choice if it were up to me (which it's obviously not). It really doesn't bother me that he has a bit of a checkered past, in fact if anything it makes him slightly more appealing.

As I mentioned in the other thread this club is too nice, which is why we event roles for ex players and stick with the likes of Mayo and Hart for so long because they try hard bless them. Now Knight has gone we should be moving away from that way of thinking which I think is what Bloom is doing.

Kraay was sent off some ludicruous number of times, and got a long ban. When he signed here the papers labelled him 'The Dirtiest Player in Europe'.

None of my objections to Wise are anything to do with what he did ON the pitch.

I couldn't give a shit whose in charge or playing as long as we're winning , even though I might not particularly like their past, AND I dont care how we win I'll be perfectly happy for us to kick our way out of this division. This team has been too soft for too long.

It will be a sad day for this club if we employ that horrible little shit Wise. I dont care how much success he brings it is like HKFC says.......... at what cost. Anyway his record is no great shakes.

Not quite, but it is a f*** site better than losing with a nice guy in charge!

If we can find a nice guy who is also a winner, that would be great! Can you think of any other than Sir Bobby Robson (and he is now dead by the way). Fergie, Wenger, Alan Shearer (with the elbows)? Nope? Nor me!

Are you lumping determined men who forsake "niceness" for success together with unpleasant, nasty thugs who are willing to ruin people's lives for shits and giggles?

It matters to me whether we have a miniscule, lipless runt in charge or not. We want to tell people we're a club going somewhere and with a man of some decency leading the way. Not caring is like saying i don't care what the prime minister is like as long as he wins wars, no matter who the wars were with.
You hear those spoilt, tantrummy arseholes at big clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal booing their own teams off and seeing finishing 4th as a failure. I don't like people like that and don't want those same whingeing dicks down the Albion every week supporting whatever we do as long as we win. Boring and ugly to watch.
