Windows XP question for all you techies out there...

Just managed to get an old laptop up and running that I haven't used for ages, but buggered if I can remember my user password to login! Running windows xp, and it's the only username that comes up on boot up to start.

Anyone know how/if I can get round this? Tried all my usual stack of regular passwords and it's none of them.

If you have access to another computer you can create a password reset CD or bootable usb stick. Lots of different programs out there, have used this one: Offline NT Password & Registry Editor Review

Done this for a friend the other week, post 3 is correct. Easy if you have another laptop / pc running XP, slightly more difficult if not but still doable.
