Looking to go to wimbledon on friday for the tennis. Im happy getting a ticket just for the lower courts which is £20 for court 3 and lower, has anyone been, because it says i need to que several hours before, is that true or is it just to ensure i get tickets. Also, if i was to try for the better tickets they sell on the gate, how early do you need to que for them, thanks for any help. And if by chance you have any tickets let me know.

I have gone pretty much every year queueing outside. It is great fun. We normally get there about 8pm the night before and that has always guaranteed us tickets, people have arrived after pub closing at 11 and not got tickets for the court they wanted.

There are normally 500 for centre court, and 500 for number 1 on sale for queuers, but there are 2 queues.

It is great fun, you get to go camping on the street, have a BBQ or order a takeaway to your spot in the queue.

2 years ago Spearmint Rhino turned up in a limo, and the girls were offering lap dances in the back of it for £15

Theres always loads of aussies with a guitar getting the crowds going with a sing song. I love it, but cant make it this year unfortunatley

Apparantly there is only one queue this year.

There should still be plenty of matches on the outside courts so it might be worth just getting a ground pass and if you want to get to a show court queue later for the re-sell tickets, which is when people go home, give up their ticket, and their seat is then re-sold

Ticket availability

Wimbledon remains one of the very few major UK sporting events for which you can still buy premium tickets on the day of play. Approximately 500 tickets daily for each of the Centre (except for the last 4 days), No.1 and No.2 Courts are reserved for sale at the turnstiles.

Roughly 6000 Ground Admission tickets are available each day for entry to the Grounds, including the No.2 Court standing enclosure and unreserved seating and standing on Courts 3–19. This number may vary depending on the number of people already in the grounds, the number of courts in play and the weather.

Queueing for Ground Passes
For a ground pass it is usually necessary to join the queue several hours before the grounds open. For a show court ticket many people choose to queue overnight to maximise their chances of being able to purchase a ticket for Centre, No.1 or No.2 Court.

If you get to the queue before 8am you'll be in by the start of play. I arrived at 8am yesterday and was in by 11:15

It really depends on what you'd want to see really, by Friday most of the outside courts will just have doubles/juniors matches, so you'd be best trying to queue up in Thursday night for CC/C1/C2.

I would recommend taking in your own food, as it is VERY expensive in their
ALso after 6, some people in Centre and 1 courts start to go home, you can wait near the exits and get their ticket for free before they are scanned for resale, oryou can queue at th e top of Henman hill for the resale tickets for about £5 for a couple of hours play.

Its worth going in those courts if you have never been before

Went yesterday, there is only one q now, which runs alongside the golf course, we got there at 2.15 and got in bang on 5 paying only £14 for 4 & 1/2 hours, ques will be bigger today tho due to murry playing! centre court one and two are the only tickets that can be bought in advance i think! is worth going tho great fun, but do take ur own food and alcohol, you can take a packet lunch and either a bottle of wine or two beers but if u take more as long as u drink them in the que before hand then they'll be fine!
