Not all that surprising, it's her first year of the tour and it's common for players to pick up a lot of niggles and struggle to find form. The strange thing was her winning the US Open in the first place. She's only 19, and a lot of the more sensible tennis pundits said after her grand slam win that we shouldn't expect her to excel consistently straight after.

It's like if an unknown 19 year old footballer was the surprise top scorer in the world cup, then failed to set the Premier League alight in his first senior season afterwards, with a few injuries. You wouldn't just disregard him completely following that.

Give her a few years and then we'll see if she has what it takes to consistently challenge at the top.

Who knows, it's far too early to tell. She might go on to win multiple grand slams, she might never get past a QF again. It would be nice though if we (as British sports fans and media) could give her the time that most promising young athletes are given to gain experience and improve. Rather than criticising her choice of coach, saying she has a weak mentality, or indeed that she is high maintenance, when the vast majority of us haven't the foggiest what she is like as a person beyond what we see in interviews, and have no idea what is best for her in terms of coaching.

As I say, let's give her a few years (when she will be the grand old age of 22) before we start talking about whether she will make it or not.

What does John Isner eat? The man is an absolute beast. Very pretty wife though. Making lurv must be difficult.

Murray already looks frustrated. Still a long way to go. Isner was involved in a five-setter on Monday and he's into his thirties as well.

Sadly a shadow of the player he was

Isner really isn’t all that apart from his serve but tonight he has had Murray on the back foot from the off.

I will be astounded if Murray turns this around, more likely to lose 3 sets to nil on what I am watching
