Ideas like this make me not feel sad about not going to the Cardiff game.

Not for me,thanks.
Can't stand the bloody thing.

Why can't we have a national anthem that has words about our country and its people instead of some rich old bird that lives in a palace.

This. It always makes me cringe. It's an awful anthem, and we're not even the only country that uses it (although at least Leichtenstein have the sense to sing words about their land rather than an individual).

Also, it's pretty pointless as GSTK is the British national anthem and Wales is very much part of Britain. I'm not sure if there's anything approaching the status of an English anthem, but GSTK definitely isn't it.

Apart from the small time mentality of singing that at a provincial club of a similar size to us, I happen to agree with this in any case. I'll never sing GstQ. Utterly shit anthem at the best of times for more than one reason.

You could always sing this instead - same tune but different words...... (Does sound weird when you hear it foir the first time tho!)

"My Country, 'Tis of Thee", also known as "America", is an American patriotic song, whose lyrics were written by Samuel Francis Smith. The melody used is the British national anthem, "God Save the Queen", arranged by Thomas Arne and used by many members of the Commonwealth of Nations. The song served as a de facto national anthem of the United States before the adoption of "The Star-Spangled Banner" as the official anthem.

My country tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died!
Land of the Pilgrim's pride!
From every mountain side,
Let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love.
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture fills
Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song.
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.

Our father's God to, Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright
With freedom's holy light;
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God, our King!
