What power do you think Potter actually wields at Chelsea?

I'd be really surprised if he wasn't outside much of all this. Probably asked his opinion, but this all stinks of an American businessman who thinks like a sports franchise where he can buy a successful setup of staff wholesale. And that's all he's done. Rather than pick off roles from all over through research, knowledge and information gathering, he's just ransacked our club. Blaming that on Potter though, personally I just don't see it.

Very naive to think they don’t listen to him saying who he wants around him. Do you seriously believe there are no better options in World football than people at Brighton? WOW!!

Really ? Our recruitment has been some of the best in terms of value for money.

Our previous manager has a lot of plaudits and considered one of the best young managers around.

Our previous DoF is regarded as one of the best in the country with a strong record.

We ourselves have been praising the club and those involved for a long time. Plenty of press articles written about us over the years.

You really believe we have the best set up in World football? I think we do for money spent on them but I'm sure that if we had bottomless pockets we'd have found even better. Chelsea have bottomless pockets and if Winstanley is the best in the world at recruitment I'd be staggered. This stinks of Potter input to me

Todd Boehly wants Chelsea to operate with a new regime and he's cleared out the Ambramovich era. Yes, exactly what I am saying IS that there are better options in world football, but Boehly has gone, who has been operating the best in English football, oh Brighton, okay lets get their entire staff in. It's how American's operate, it's how franchise sport over there often operates.

They don't give managers that much power, few clubs do because you may sack them within a year, then you've based your entire staff on what they want. Doesn't happen. Your view of this malevolent machiavellian scheming is all of Potter's doing - with the greatest respect, I don't think what I am stating is the naivety.

If they've given him carte blanch to pick the entire backroom staff from Director of Football down, then no wonder he left when the call came.
That would be bonkers.

The absolute best in the world ? No.

Some of the best in the league ? Yes.

Do they work for a smaller club? Yes.

Does their employer have an open policy that anyone can leave for career progression or a promotion? Yes.

Geographically too, an hour between Lancing and Cobham. It is the most convenient wholesale acquisition Boehly could have made. That's what has happened here.

I wonder if working behind the scenes at the Albion is a happy working environment, they are all scuttling of like rats on a ship.

When he was appointed they wanted him to choose his own man it was in the media.

I totally agree but there seems to be some denial about it.

Anyway wtf are we doing agreeing with each other? :lolol:

No reason to believe it isn't. Players and staff on average stay longer with Brighton than with most clubs.

Problem is that when a wage structure meets a "mate just tell us what you want and you'll get it", the latter is often going to win out. In football and elsewhere.

Potter is a man with a laser-like vision for his life trajectory, and fair play to him, as it has worked thus far, but yes, like almost all people who get to the top, there is a cold, ruthless side to it, and some would say there has to be. As Lennon said, you have to learn to smile as you kill.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to , so that when they turn their backs on you , you`ll get the chance to put the knife in .

There are a few who think it’s all just hunky dory and will be forever grateful regardless of how much he strips away from the Albion.

Luckily we are all different, because I would actually choke on that view.
He seems to have a very cold side to him , to walk over those you claimed were your friends is the very definition of mercenary .

A genuinely hostile, intimidating atmosphere combined with the liberal use of the dark arts on the pitch leading to at least a point would be most welcome .. whereas a tepid half and half reception followed by a regulation loss not so much.

I think you’re being a bit naive here. Take away the emotion of being a football fan, and all it entails, then you are looking at employees leaving to join a bigger company on better pay and prospects.
